Sr. Network Engineer

Basic qualifications:

BS in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent is required

Experience in networking technology engineering positions, overseeing leaders / multiple solutions in multiple locations

The successful candidate should have a high level of expertise in many of the following areas: network routing (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP), Multicast, Anycast, VLANs, MPLS, Data Center Spine-and-Leaf Architectures, QoS, VoIP, Wifi, 802.1x, Wan Optimization, SNMP, IPSec, VPN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and virtualization technologies (SDN, SD-WAN, NFV, VXLAN, EVPN).

Experience with Cisco Networking equipment is required.

Preferred qualifications:

MS or MA degree in Computer Science or related discipline preferred.

CCIE Certification

Quality or Compliance related exposure in a highly regulated or controlled industry a plus

Global experience a plus

Job Description-

Evaluate and implement new and emerging technology solutions within the Network environment that give GSK a competitive edge and enable GSK to aggressively grow revenue in support of critical business initiatives.

Develop technology plans and migration strategies which are aligned within the Network architectures. Implement standard solutions wherever possible in order to reduce cost, decrease variation, and increase reliability.

Develop standardized installation kits for networking systems. Technology areas to include Wide Area Network (WAN), Metropolitan Area Network, Local Area Network (LAN), Software Defined Networks (SDN), and Wireless.

Develop and maintain technical documentation, deployment and migration guidelines, and technology standards within a qualified and non-qualified infrastructure.

Develop technology roadmap within the Networking landscape that incorporates new technologies into an overall infrastructure design that supports GSK business requirements.

Provide third level support to operations staff (internal and external) and expert level support to other IT staff.

Develop relationships with GSK's external vendors as it relates to IT Network technology platforms. Research business and user needs and vendor offerings to identify opportunities that enhance service or reduce operation cost.
