Senior Automation Engineer
Bachelors Degree in Engineering (Electrical / Chemical / Mechanical) or other Technical Degree (Computer / Bio-technology) w/directly relevant experience
7 or more years experience in a process control or related function
Project and/or Administrative experience with many of the following: Data Historians (IP21, InSQL), Networking, Servers, DCS (DeltaV), PLC (SLC / Logix), BAS (Apogee)
Understanding of process controls principles for networks, process computers, controllers, and instrumentation
The ability to read, understand, and troubleshoot using control schematics, I/O diagrams
Experience in the Biopharm industry working with control of manufacturing equipment , processes, and utilities
Experience working Experienced with S-88 Batch Programming experience with Emerson DeltaV based
Experienced maintaining system life cycle documentation (Drawings, Design Files, FRS, SDDS, etc).
Experience managing projects, budgets, scoping, design, and implementation within a Change Management environment.
Capable of occasional supervision of the activities of contractors
Experience validating computerized systems including protocol generation and execution
Experience working with industrial controls (24vdc, 120vac). Specify, install, checkout and troubleshoot.
Familiarity with electrical codes (70), safe work practices (70E) and machine safety (79).
The Process Control Department is a specialized group within the Engineering Department that is responsible for plant automation, process control, data management, and system life-cycle documentation. The group is responsible for process controls support of manufacturing operations at a cGMP biologics production facility.
- Provide system administration duties for automated systems: Historians, Networks, Servers, DCS, PLC, BAS, Advanced Instrumentation
- Manage multiple projects involving retrofits, optimization and acquisition of process systems
- Assist in resolving technical issues with automation problems and support investigation as required for manufacturing systems: Cell Culture, Bioreactors, Centrifuges, Filtration UF/DF/TF, Chromatography, CIP/SIP, Autoclaves, Building Automation, Clean Utilities, WFI generation, Chillers, RO skids, Labs
- Support system life-cycle documentation for automated control systems: URS, FRS, SDDS, P&IDs, control schematics
- Develop and update engineering specifications, policies and procedures
- Participate in internal audits and provide support during external regulatory audits.
- Maintain and document all cGMP equipment/system modifications and upgrades through approved change control methods
