Details:

Regional Communications Manager, Asia Middle East & Africa (AMA), Japan & Asia Pacific Supply Chain

You will lead and influence communications for Global Manufacturing and Supply (GMS) in the Asia-Pacific region including China and Japan. This is a broad-reaching role working across our Pharmaceutical (Rx) and Consumer Healthcare (CH) supply chains, managing a network of communicators based in our manufacturing sites in the region and acting as business partner to three regional supply chain heads.

A key aspect of the role will involve ensuring clear understanding of two different businesses (Rx and CH), a number of groups and stakeholders, and being able to flex your style, approach and cultural awareness appropriately.

You will need to be able to work independently as well as working closely alongside colleagues responsible for sub-regions in the Indian subcontinent (ISC), Middle East and Africa (MEA/CIS) and China to ensure that activities and support are aligned and consistent across the broader Asia-Pacific region.

It will also be important to build strong partnerships with the broader global GMS Comms team as well as colleagues across the wider business (eg Pharma and Consumer Healthcare regional business communications teams).

You will report to one of the global GMS Communications team's global supply chain communication leads and have direct line management responsibility for the Regional Communications Manager, China.

Our Company

At GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), we are dedicated to improving the quality of human life by enabling people to do more, feel better, live longer. GSK is one of the world's leading research based healthcare companies, with over 100,000 employees in 150 countries across our Pharmaceuticals, Vaccines and Consumer Healthcare business.

We are proud of the difference we make and in 2016, FORTUNE Magazine ranked GSK #1 on its list of companies that are changing the world. The 'Change the World' list recognises companies that have made significant progress in sustainable, scalable approaches to addressing societal problems as part of their company strategy. Put simply, our focus is on improving access and affordability of medicines, regardless of where people live or their ability to pay.

GSK has been present in Asia for over 50 years and our commitment to the region is strengthened by the establishment of our purpose-built headquarters for Asia. Situated in Singapore, GSK Asia House is a further step in our long-standing strategy to grow and diversify our company - emphasizing the globally balanced business we have built over the years. To better support Asia, we focus on developing talent to improve our ability to make the right decisions for healthcare professionals, patients and consumers across the region.

Wherever we work within GSK, our contribution supports a person at the end of the supply chain relying on us for their medicine or product, so that they can do more, feel better, and live longer. In 2016 GSK produced over 2 billion packs of medicine. Global Manufacturing and Supply (GMS) is responsible for making and supplying GSK products around the globe. GMS is involved with every stage of production from the infrastructure of the manufacturing sites, supply forecasting, regulatory inspections and the quality of the product. Together, in over 70 sites in 33 countries we co-ordinate the forecasting, production and shipping of GSK products.

The Role

You will provide engagement support to your regional supply chain leaders, helping them and their respective leadership teams bring the strategy to life by creating clear, simple and consistent messaging and impactful communications plans that integrate business strategy, GMS priorities, global programmes, and any supply chain specific areas of focus. As part of this you will need to measure the effectiveness of communications and work with regional leadership teams to understand and respond to the feedback on an ongoing basis.

You will establish strong relations with Site Directors and a community of communications champions at both CH and Rx manufacturing sites in the region to support alignment and engagement at a local level, provide communications support for key operational issues, build trust with external stakeholders, and manage issues effectively. In addition, you will sit on the regional supply chain lead teams, playing an active role in strategic discussions and acting as the voice of communications and the broader employee population into each supply chain.

You will also be a key representative and champion of the region for global GMS and CGA activities. As part of this you will need to identify communications and engagement priorities and ensure global/ GMS communications are relevant to and supportive of local GMS business objectives.

When appropriate, you will also partner with commercial and R&D communications colleagues in the region to integrate messages and activities, leverage communications collateral/resources and provide 'air traffic' control for communications in the regional supply chain.

Requirements

You are a passionate communications professional with the following attributes:

  • Ideally 3-5 years of experience in internal communication, external communication, corporate communication and/or issues management.
  • Proven track record in managing internal communication strategies in a large multi-national organisation including experience of engaging a culturally diverse and remote workforce.
  • Deep understanding of employee engagement techniques and some relevant experiences in organisational transformation and change management.
  • Strategic in thought and detailed in delivery with a high level of personal accountability.
  • A self-starter with strong influencing skills and the ability to effectively manage competing demands.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
