As the newly appointed R&D Digital Technical Director, you will be responsible for evaluating hardware electrical and/or mechanical design components of 'off the shelf' digital devices found on the market or creating custom devices, by partnering with contract manufacturers and custom fabrication vendors.
You will lead the lead the prototype design from concepts to large scale manufacturing with contract manufacturers. In addition, you will support the due diligence on devices with mechanical and/or electrical systems.
This role specializes in removing technical and logistical hurdles that can cause problems during solution development, launch and maintenance (e.g. updating an app without disrupting users)
You will be a key contributor to the R&D innovation strategy to deliver digital innovation including devices, wearables and apps.
As the successful applicant, you will provide expert support and direct project input to our (electronic/digital) device innovation projects, working as a cross-Category resource assigned as a support or direct project team member on specific Category initiatives. You will ensure cross-functional alignment between Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering and Manufacturing and be accountable for the quality and the design of the hardware (including electrical components).
You will work across the Digital Innovation Hub (DIH) team to ensure device acceptance criteria are clearly defined and be responsible for the identification of product performance risks, identifying trade-offs, and implementing risk mitigation strategies. You will be the lead specialist in evaluating targeted technologies for due diligence and be responsible for the development of best practices insights for digital technology
As part of this role, you will manage internal / external partners to step-change GSK's Consumer Healthcare ability to drive big-bet, digital breakthrough global innovation across all categories.

• Undergraduate Degree (Computer Science, Engineering or Physics)
• Significant working experience in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Product Design (or equivalent)
• Digital device principles are a required foundation. Deep practical experience in leading digital device project, implementing cradle to grave innovation.
• Experience in collaborating with and influencing across R&D and commercial stakeholders.
• Effective stakeholder management is required to successfully deliver complex plans across multiple partners, brands and geographies including strong oral and written communication skills, effective at all levels of capability and seniority.
• Project management skills are needed to ensure complete and on-time execution of all partnership plans.
• Deep knowledge of the digital device landscape to establish baseline credibility across R&D and GSK agencies as well as internal stakeholders.
• Experience leading, managing and developing talent.
• Postgraduate Degree
