QC Manager (Technical)

Basic qualifications:

Degree in a relevant discipline

Minimum 8 years relevant experience in a pharmaceutical environment

Strong leadership skills

Supervisory experience

Technical skills in laboratory equipment qualification, method validation, & computer system validation

Knowledge of cGLP and cGMP

Strong report writing skills

Effective planning & organization skills

Preferred qualifications:

Laboratory experience

Knowledge of statistics, SAP and compendium would be a distinct advantage

GSK Vaccines grew by 14% in 2016 and is one of the largest in the world. Every year we distribute nearly 1 billion doses to 170 countries, of which over 80% were supplied to developing countries. As the QC Manager, your role will be to provide leadership, guidance and development for the Technical team. You will play a critical role in creating and embedding a culture of accountability and ownership, together with driving continuous process improvements with QC operations.

Key responsibilities include;

  • Managing a team, leading & coaching, defining objectives, developing each team member, ensuring knowledge retention and effective training is conducted
  • Participating and supporting GMP Audits
  • Lead and manage department/site projects and initiatives with minimum guidance
  • Metrics Performance including :

Quality; ensuring site and team KPIs are met, investigation and timely closure with effective CAPA to prevent recurrence, training effectiveness, review and implementation of compendium updates

Financial; QC financial status vs budget; laboratory spending

Safety; safety incident rate, near misses/unsafe conditions reporting and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Keep up-to-date on all regulations and developments with respect to biopharmaceutical QC activities to ensure quality control operations are compliant
  • Write, review and approve GMP documentation (SOPS, protocols, reports), notifications (events and deviations) and CAPAs
  • Lead and manage the investigation of non-conformities (events and deviations)
