Production Mechanic

Basic qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required

1 – 3 year mechanical experience with demonstrated mechanical aptitude

Preferred qualifications:

Vocational school certification or equivalent

3 year mechanical experience in a cGMP or pharmaceutical environment with demonstrated mechanical aptitude.

Strong problem solving and reasoning skills.

Computer knowledge such as but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite or Computerizes Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

Able to work any shift up to and including weekends.

Demonstrated ability to maintain control in stressful situations, and perform well under pressure.

Interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.

Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds for short distances

Ability to read and interpret machine manuals, this includes diagrams and/or drawings, part numbers

Able to handle change in team requirements such as rotation of roles, work schedules and unexpected events. Must be able to work any shift.

Able to learn new technology and communicate with equipment manufacturers for process improvement


Job Description Summary-Operate, troubleshoot and maintain high speed packaging equipment in a cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices) environment.

Job Description-

Strict adherence to Lock Out and Tag Out (LOTO) procedures and Zero Access Guarding.

Read, interpret and adhere to all training for established SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), EHS (Environmental, Health and Safety) and cGMPs (current Good Manufacturing Practices).

Operate, troubleshoot and maintain high speed packaging equipment which includes but not limited to preventative maintenance tasks.

Monitor and diagnose machinery for proper timing and phasing.

Identify worn components, repair and replace.

Troubleshoot sensors, bearings, pulleys and gear boxes.

Completion of shift handoff checklist to ensure thorough handoff of settings information.

Continuous improvement ideas and implementation.

Ensure area escalation process is followed.

Performing set up and adjustments to packaging equipment to ensure to assign machines run to peak efficiency.

Participate in and lead as required Problem Solving exercises including RCA, 5W & 1H as well as developing and implementing corrective and preventive actions.

Basic mathematical computation

Visual inspection of equipment and packaging components

Troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)

Support site GPS (GSK's Production System) initiatives

Maintains safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
