Organisation & People Data Analyst

Basic qualifications:

A Bachelor's Degree in a mathematical related field such as Statistics, Econometrics, Industrial/Organisational Psychology, Operations Research or Applied Mathematics. Or equivalent experience.

Proven, direct experience in the use of data and analytical tools to develop models and algorithms.

Advanced knowledge in Data Visualisation Applications and reporting tools such as Qlik, Tableau, MicroStrategy, PowerBI etc.

Strong analytical and numerical ability – able to analyse and interpret data, evaluate data and make recommendations based on data and market trends.

Data protection and privacy – critical that the incumbent has experience of working in a highly regulated environment with experience of:

  • Encryption and data security
  • Data transfer agreements and working compliantly with third parties
  • Management of PII and SPII data

Storytelling, communicate complex statistical concepts and technical outputs to non-experts in both a written and verbal manner

Ability to handle high levels of ambiguity and pressure to adhere to tight deadlines, but always working with upmost of integrity when dealing with sensitive and confidential data.

Preferred qualifications:

Direct experience in the field of HR / People / Organisational analytics

Experience in the field of employee health & wellbeing, especially health analytics

A systems and research background that enabled O&P Analytics to leverage technological advances in the fields of Data Science, Big Data, Machine Learning, and Statistics. Interest in Digital Analytics and Applications, Employee Survey's, and Psychometrics also desirable but not essential.

About the role

The use of data and analytics across the GSK HR organisation has become a critical imperative in the transformation of the function. The rapid growth of both internal and external data in conjunction with the creation of new modalities has increased the need for GSK to establish improved mechanisms in the collection, integration, use and re-use of people and organisational data. The Organisation & People Analytics (O&PA) team was established in 2016 to support all areas of HR in the expanded use of workforce data and analytics.

The O&PA team provides strategic and analytical inputs to senior management, HR and the business to support evidenced-based decision-making on Human Capital. The mission is to provide HR and the business with valuable insights about GSK's organisation and its people that help shape our people & health strategies in order to improve business performance.

What is the purpose of this role?

The O&PA Data Analyst provides strategic and analytical inputs to senior management, HR and the business to support evidenced-based decision-making on Human Capital. The Data Analyst will need to have combination of strong technical knowledge of the data sources and systems which hold people data combined with comprehensive knowledge of applied research methodologies in order to select appropriate methodologies / techniques to analyse data and extract insight.

The O&PA Data Analyst will have to apply their technical knowledge of GSK systems that hold people data (both structured and unstructured) in order to select appropriate techniques to extract relevant information in an efficient and secure way, to develop appropriate data models which can be empirically tested to answer key business questions.

The O&P Data Analyst will also be required to use their knowledge of applied research methodologies (quantitative and qualitative) to turn everyday business problems into hypothesis/research questions which can be measured. This will require selecting appropriate data, research design / methodology, tools, analytical techniques and visualization's in order to extract meaningful insight (i.e. translate) to inform and drive key decision making.

What are the key responsibilities/accountabilities?

Work in close partnership with the Data Curator to select appropriate methodologies / techniques to analyse data and extract insight for key stakeholders in an efficient and secure way

Develop appropriate data models which can be empirically tested to answer key business questions

Work in collaboration with other O&PA Analytics Directors, translate everyday business problems into hypothesis/research questions which can be measured (selecting appropriate data, research design / methodology, tools, analytical techniques and visualization's in order to extract meaningful insight (i.e. translate) to inform and drive key decision making)

Lead specific analytical projects as required in support of the overall O&PA team goals and objectives

Provide input to the development of a future Analytics 'Engine' (data architecture) for all Organisational & People related data in GSK

Support aspects of the ongoing development and continuous improvement of Workforce Advanced Reporting dashboards (built in Qlikview/Qliksense)

Build a strong external network and ensure that the O&PA team benefits from learning of innovations in the data and analytics space outside of GSK

How would I be rewarded in this role?

PAY - We will reward your contributions to GSKs success through your salary, bonus or sales incentives, and recognition awards.

Competitive Base Salary – Your salary is paid monthly on the 20th day of the month (or nearest business day) It is reviewed each year to ensure it stays competitive and reflects your performance and contribution to GSK's strategy.

18% Annual Target Bonus – Your individual performance is worth 60% if your total bonus and is based on the achievement of your personal objectives. The high level results of your business area is worth 40% of your total bonus.

Car Allowance – Annual car allowance of £6,252 paid in equal monthly installments.

SHARES & SAVINGS – Gives you a stake in GSK's success and helps you save for the future, in partnership with GSK.

Share Value Plan - The Share Value Plan rewards your personal contribution to GSK's success.
