Operational Excellence Director – Vaccines Production, Primary Bacterial Operations

Basic qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum Level of Education : University degree related to the role. Additional degree, e.g. MBA is preferred.
  • Area of Specialisation : Biotechnology, bulk, sterile and/or packaging operations.
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification.

Basic Experience required :

  • At least 15 years' working experience acquired in several environments within vaccines or pharma production (functions, departments, countries, companies).
  • At least 5 years' experience in Lean Six Sigma manufacturing in a similar role.
  • Senior management position or previous experience in leadership role within operations.
  • Proven track record leading and managing complex projects and teams.
  • Change Management experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of cGMPs.
  • Business level French and English, written and spoken.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge in Lean Sigma manufacturing.
  • Experience acquired in Primary (fermentation/cell culture, purification) and/or Secondary (formulation, sterile filling, packaging) operations.
  • Previous experience in QA/QC is a plus.
  • Good understanding of business/financial processes.

Responsibilities:

This function enables and drives changes across GSK Vaccines Belgium Operations through expertise, team-work and strong, trusted relationships inside the organisation. The OE Director is responsible for helping the Business deliver and exceed its strategy via the following achievements:

  • Build and deploy a Continuous Improvement and Execution strategy and operating system.
  • Drive the change in mindset and behaviour across the organisation to ensure successful implementation.
  • Develop strong network among the leaders of the manufacturing sites and the Business Improvement related fields.
  • Operate in Vaccines high priority areas, in close relationship with senior management (VPs, Operations and Quality Leadership Teams, production sites and central functions).
  • Act transversally, taking into consideration strategic plans from multiple departments.
  • Able to identify issues and propose mitigation plans to the Senior Management.
  • Acting depute to the Head of Primary Operations and is a successor to the role of Manufacturing Unit Head as "ready now".
