Manufacturing Platform Lead

Your Responsibilities:
The NPI (New Product Introduction) and Technical function provides best in class processes that ensure the product inputs are understood and maintained through the product life-cycle within the wider manufacturing and production operations at the GSK Ware GMS (Global Manufacturing and Supply) Site. This entails all elements of the manufacture, testing and supply process from launch through to planned changes and to transfers.

Job Purpose:
Reporting to the Platform and Process Manager (Oral Solid Dose), you will be the technical lead on manufacturing unit operations working closely with the Product Owner teams to ensure the appropriate translation of the Product Control Strategy to the shop floor. Where applicable, you will liaise with process measurement technology (PMT) experts to enhance the understanding of the relationship between measurement, impact of variability in input materials, environmental conditions, equipment conditions, manual operations and their integration with the control strategy. Working closely with engineering, production and quality you will help deliver production requirements by ensuring day to day technical issues are rapidly and effectively resolved. As required you will lead quality investigations associated with the unit operation, and deliver key technical activities for New Product Introduction trials and planned change implementations. You will ensure compliance with all site standard operation procedures as well as adhere to all GMP, Quality, Health and Safety processes in all aspects of your role.


About You:
This role would suit a self-motivated individual who has experience of working in a cross-functional, global supply organisation. You will be resilient and calm under pressure, with strong people skills and a proven ability to influence people to achieve objectives and drive performance. You will have a strong continuous improvement mindset.

We are particularly interested in candidates that have experience of granulation techniques ideally gained within an oral solid dose manufacturing facility. Additionally an understanding of thermodynamics and particle technologies would be advantageous.

About Ware Manufacturing Site:
Medicines at Ware are presented as either Respiratory devices or in Oral Solid Dose form. The site holds a unique position in our network as the only site responsible for launching the company's pipeline of new medicines in these dose forms, many of which are life saving medicines. A series of investments in new state-of-the-art equipment are being made that will support the delivery of a record number of new products. This must be achieved whilst consistently delivering outstanding quality, service and value to our patients.

Basic qualifications:
• BSc in Scientifc or Engineering discipline or equivalent experience

Preferred qualifications:
• Comprehensive knowledge of external regulatory requirements (MHRA, FDA), and internal/external quality and safety requirements
• Operational knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes associated with a dosage form.
• Experience working in a cGMP aligned pharmaceutical environment.
