Basic qualifications:

  • Relevant qualifications and experience is essential.

  • Professionally registered Engineer or working towards registration with IET/CIBSE (CENG)

  • Required to demonstrate competence in current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP), understands its impact on their own role and the implications of not following cGMP.

The Engineering function at the GSK Ware GMS (Global Manufacturing and Supply) site is responsible for the provision of technical expertise to support the manufacturing, automation and controls systems for all production operations to ensure production targets are achieved.

Due to the sustained long term expansion of the Ware site and the introduction of new products we are looking for a dynamic and driven Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Engineering function. Working directly into the Ware GMS site's Engineering Compliance Manager you will have management responsibility for two main areas; Electrical Engineering and Energy Management for the site. The role requires a close and direct working relationship with all functions and levels within the site, including Capital Project Managers and the Engineering Director. There will be potential for line management (specifically contract staff), as well as responsibility for external relationships which need to be developed and maintained (eg; with Energy Providers, Government Bodies, Leading Consultants etc).

In relation to the Electrical Engineer elements of the role you must maintain and operate a safe and reliable High Voltage (HV) & Low Voltage (LV) electrical distribution system for the site. This includes 12 substations, building management/control systems, fire protection systems and the intruder protection systems. For the Energy Management elements of the job you will act as the Engineering Technical Authority for the Combined Heat and Power plant. Your role will include management of the site energy regulatory requirements (e.g Climate Change Levy and EUETS agreement), as well as monitoring, trending and reporting site energy usage. You will also be responsible for identifying and implementing energy reduction initiatives through waste reduction, optimisation, substitution and new technologies.

Working directly with the Engineering Compliance Manager you will also be accountable to the Engineering Director for the delivery of the energy reduction plan.

About You:

This role would suit a driven and motivated individual who has strong experience of working in a complex GMP environment. You will be a qualified electrical engineer, with strong people skills (ideally with previous line-management experience). A proven ability to drive performance is a must. It is imperative in this role that you demonstrate an ability to drive common-objective thinking, with a complete focus on providing solutions. You will need to be persuasive, have a strong continuous improvement mindset, and have proven experience dealing with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups. Ideally you will have worked in a highly regulated-industry.

Medicines at Ware are presented as either Respiratory devices or in Oral Solid Dose form. The site holds a unique position in our network as the only site responsible for launching the company's pipeline of new medicines in these dose forms, many of which are life saving medicines. A series of investments in new state-of-the-art equipment are being made that will support the delivery of a record number of new products.
