Investigator - Molecular Immunology and Infectious Diseases
PhD degree in cellular immunology, or related biological field, and 3-5 year of relevant pharmaceutical industry, biotech and/or academic experience is required.
A strong working and theoretical knowledge of the molecular and cellular mechanisms of adaptive and innate immune responses, immune metabolism, viral immunology and immunopathology of chronic inflammation and infectious diseases is desired.
The HIV Discovery Performance Unit is seeking a talented, creative and experienced molecular and cellular immunologist to join the research and discovery group on HIV immune therapies. The Investigator will assume primary responsibilities to lead ongoing programs and develop new programs in HIV immune therapy. The successful candidate will have a broad expertise in the immunology and metabolic pathways related to inflammatory disorders and/or chronic infectious diseases, and will be able to translate news ideas and news mechanisms of action into testable hypothesis, and validate target in vitro and in vivo along a translational drug development research plan. A strong laboratory presence is expected along with leadership skills: sets high performance expectations and holds others accountable for results; promotes a culture of scientific and technical excellence, multidisciplinary problem solving, teamwork, flexibility, execution against goals, and effective communication
Build internal expertise in immune therapies for the control and/or the clearance of HIV infection for HIV Cure strategies in collaboration with UNC HIV Cure Center, a joint partnership between GSK and UNC Chapel Hill. Introduce new molecular and cellular immunology techniques and animal models relevant to HIV immune therapy and reservoir eradication. Engage in multidisciplinary team efforts playing leadership and/or supportive roles. Serve as a mentor to other scientists within the infectious disease therapy area.
