HR Director, UK ERC, Policy & I&D

Basic qualifications:

Must have led an Employee Relations Team or had responsibility for delivery of the ER function. Industrial Relations experience is also required.

University/College Diploma or Degree or equivalent knowledge gained 'on the job' (Human Resources, Business, Financial, Customer Services)

Preferred qualifications:

Further Degree or equivalent knowledge gained 'on the job' Human Resources or equivalent with a strong interest in the field of EQ (Emotional Intelligence).


The role holder will be required to demonstrate leadership experience, ideally gained within a complex environment as well as proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and navigate a complex and political landscape. They will demonstrate the ability to work in a fast paced, ambiguous, constantly changing environment and must have an understanding of UK Employment legislation. They should be experienced in driving consistency, standardisation and efficiency and have strong decision making based upon sound flexible thinking and risk. They should be able to demonstrate management of complex employee relations issues and ensuring HR compliance controls are fulfilled in order to maintain the reputation of the Company.

The role holder will be the decision making for operational activity in ER, Policy and I&D arena whilst working with their Regional HR Operations Lead to align with global practices and they will drive the UK HR Operations ER agenda by delivering a more standardised and simple HR service to the business.

They should be seen by others as an expert and bring gravitas to the I& D agenda and they will need to fully understand and drive the GSK agenda as it relates to Inclusion and Diversity.

We expect extensive experience working in a generalist HR role and of managing teams remotely.

The purpose for this changed role is to lead the UK Employee Relations Centre team in three keys areas of:

  1. Employee Relations

  2. Inclusion & Diversity (I&D)

  3. Policy

By delivering excellence in service to employees in multiple locations, in a consistent way underpinned by metrics, measures and continuous learning and improvement.
