The Opportunity ...

The Global Category Commercial Lead - Pain Relief is responsible for sustained accelerated growth of the £ 1.4 Billion business by providing commercial marketing leadership at the interface of Global category and Regional operations. Key driver of delivering growth via driving stronger execution plans with local area teams, firm alignment & robust planning, and creating value through powerful category programs across the 3 Regions Areas (EMEA, Americas, APAC). You'll be responsible for driving sustained business results and ensuring improved commercial success for this critical category within the regions through strong collaboration, alignment, and leadership. You'll act as a key support for the Regions LT and provide a simple interface to the matrix Category organization to ensure voice of the Regions is internalized to secure appropriate resources and accountability.

• Drives stronger marketing activation plans in the region with the area marketing teams, through leveraging shopper/analytics/ expert opportunities for improvement and optimizing plans in real time to deliver sales and share growth.
• Supports flawless delivery of execution and local amplification of Category programs and assets including innovation launches globally
• Drives brand growth learnings and needs for the regions into category to ensure Brand Programs address these to ensure successful implementation. In addition, ensure there is clarity on what will be in the Brand Programs for the area to leverage and what activities will need to be addressed by the area/LOC operationally.
• Step change instore and e-commerce execution globally through joining expert/shopper approaches to win in developed and emerging markets with deeper insights and programs.
• Step change expert engagement across multiple stakeholders by delivering the tech first category approach with high speed and ROI
• Drive accelerated share, sales, and profit growth over next 18 months for the category through direct P/L accountability for regional performance.
• Identifies, assesses, prioritises and supports transaction for appropriate Regional M&A/Licensing to deliver on strategy and create value, securing appropriate Category resources as appropriate.

Key Responsibilities ...

• Lead interface with Regions on the 3-1 Business Planning Process to maximise growth from Respiratory Category
• Identifies critical brand/market combinations for growth, develops robust plans and key must dos for the area and category to deliver robust growth and monitor performance to "course correct" quickly to stay on target
• Drives flawless delivery of execution and local amplification of Category programs and assets including innovation launches
• Effectively identifies and spreads best practice and performance learning globally to drive growth
• The eyes and ears of Category in-market to identify competitive activity and ensure GSK delivers programs to win - driving performance agility
• Responsible for thorough understanding of key needs to win "instore", and e-commerce and drives continuous improvement of materials/executions through the partnership with the shopper & expert area/category teams to deliver
• Primary measures are Sales, Profit & Market Share growth plus pipeline value and innovation sales for Power, Core brands, as well as assets adoption at the category level (% of category produced assets that are used in the markets) , % of expert recommendations across multiple HCPs (as defined by the plan)
• Identifies, assesses, prioritises and supports transaction for appropriate Regional M&A/Licensing to deliver on strategy and create value, securing appropriate Category resources as appropriate.
• Aligned and effective ways of working with the 3 Regional Leadership teams and 11 Area Marketing Teams in priority geographies to ensure performance success.

PLANNING:
• Collaborate with Region GMs, Area GMs and Area Marketing Directors to build powerful, ambitious 3-1 plans for Respiratory
• Drive right portfolio management for the category within the areas, which will lead to effective management of global category resources to maximize sales and profit for GSK
• Develop model for continuous competitive intelligence that keeps global Category informed to influence activation and innovation plans
• Aggregation of actionable local insight via closeness with the regions/areas and their consumers, experts and shoppers to help activation and inform the Global Category team
• Investment of the shopper/expert assets (resources & budget) to maximize growth for power brands in key areas/markets globally
• Partner with supply chain to drive continuity of supply on seasonal business and deliver margin improvements through scale to drive investment back into marketing plans with the areas
• Drive "winning pharmacy program" through integrating expert/shopper materials that deliver better adoption by pharmacists

ACTIVATION.
• Contact with areas to amplify the global assets/program to deliver improved consumer appeal and ultimately share growth.
• Delivery of relevant key shopper/expert visuals, promotion and activation guidelines to support the global brand initiatives and toolkits via team.
• Develop the global NRM approach working with areas and markets

DRIVE BEST PRACTICE AND BUILD CAPABILITY
• Captures best practice activations across the category and deploys back to area teams in simple, codified, and clear growth levers that can be leveraged with their LOCs and improve performance
• Captures competitive threats/learnings and deliver via MPR process within respiratory to drive awareness & proper response via our brand performance programs
• Build global category teams local consumer, shopper, expert knowledge base by delivering insights and actions via continuously bringing market perspective into the commercial processes (PMB, MPR, CGT,HTW)

MEASURES
• Measure success of global initiatives and provide timely and quality feedback to Global Category teams
• Track critical brand/market combinations via global analytics that deliver target for pain relief
• Monitor execution and effectiveness of brand programs with the area teams to ensure respiratory is delivering sales, share, and profit to plan
• Ensure commercial assets are "fit for purpose" prior to deployment to regions/area through validation & testing
• Expert recommendation

• Assets adoptions

EXTERNAL STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT
• Drive external focus in the marketing team, including regular area visits that include consumer and shopper immersions
• Strong engagement with Region/Area leadership through consistent engagement and by building relationship built on performance and trust

LEADERSHIP
• Play a key role on the Pain Relief Leadership Team on development of business strategy, culture, ways of working and commercial capabilities required to drive success
• Leads, coach and develops highly capable, diverse and empowered team of direct/indirect reports
• Develop high quality talent for Global Marketing succession plans and to feed the global Area/LOC talent pipeline
• Champion and drive change & continuous improvement

Why You?

Basic qualifications:
Established experience in marketing
• University Degree
• Demonstrable experience operating at a senior leadership level
• Strong sales/commercial execution experience
• Mix of LOC and above LOC experience (Area or Global)
• Strong financial competency and P/L Mgmt experience
• Leadership experience of Forecasting and Planning from commercial & supply perspective (Portfolio Perspective)
• Mastery of analytics and key drivers of business performance
• Experience with managing complex business problems and developing solutions within matrix organization
• Ability to deliver concise and compelling visions to gain Sr. Mgmt alignment and buy in
