Exploratory Biomarker Assay Sr Analyst
We are looking for a highly motivated, flexible and experienced scientist to join a team in the Exploratory Biomarker Assay group within the Bioanalysis, Immunogenicity and Biomarkers (BIB) department based in King of Prussia, PA, USA. This group's primary responsibility is to develop and validate biomarker assays for use in pre-clinical PK/PD/modeling studies and translation into the clinic in alignment with therapy area (TA) partners. Data from this group is a key component to understanding molecules in the GSK pipeline; and serves to enable studies to prove target engagement for novel mechanism of action and safety endpoints. These studies will be used to make early and informed decisions for asset progression within the organization.
The successful candidate will provide biomarker strategy and lab based assay support to the experimental medicine unit's in the therapeutic areas within GSK.
Ability to apply an in depth understanding of biomarkers to implement novel/exploratory biomarker LC-MS or LC-MS/MS (nominal or high-resolution) assays.
• Provide biomarker strategy and senior lab based assay support to the BIB organization
• Be responsible for executing targeted protein biomarker measurements to support pre-clinical and clinical studies; delivery of robust, high quality data packages and will demonstrate the ability to critique work to enable lead modalities to be smoothly progressed into clinical development
• Serve on various Teams representing the BIB organization and advising on biomarker strategy with the TA's and providing in depth agnostic technological biomarker assay expertise/advice, Coordinating delivery of reagents, assays and data to ensure effective translation to the clinic.
o Deliver, interpret and communicate complex scientific data to project/program teams in a timely manner
• Ability to understand, interpret, and communicate complex scientific data to project teams
• Track record of handling multiple projects concurrently
• Willingness to develop and train others as required
• Able to function well in a team and possess a good balance of creative and analytical skills
• Handling of human biological samples and performing experimental work in accordance with HBSM, safety and data integrity guidelines.
PhD or equivalent in Biochemistry, Immunology or Biological Science
A minimum of 7 years post-PhD experience with an in-depth knowledge on proteomic biomarker research and a thorough understanding of the drug development process
Deep scientific expertise and strong laboratory hands-on protein biomarker experience and theoretical understanding of biomarker assay development using LC-MS/MS, Immunoassay or other similar technique.
Proven ability to provide biomarker/translational expertise on project teams for pre-clinical and clinical studies with a wide variety of techniques and technologies.
Attention to detail and good communication and documentation skills will be expected.
Maintains a disciplined approach, ensuring a relentless focus on quality, compliance, scientific rigor and operational excellence
Highly motivated team player with a proactive attitude, excellent organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to interact effectively within a multi-disciplinary team are essential.
Experience acting as a liaison between the bioanalytical laboratory and project focused teams.
