The Data Engines will be one of the core components of the new GSK's cutting-edge innovative medical products and devices, and will be used to feed AI/ML algorithms to solve problems like: 1) finding the optimal setting to increase machine yield; 2) analyzing the flow of materials across the factories and propose the next best actions; 3) creating digital twins to run simulations for capital expenses related to new machines and floor factory optimization; 5) providing new insight related to human diseases (e.g. cancers); and 6) accelerating drug discovery.
The Pharma 4.0 is a multi-disciplinary team with domain knowledge experts having more than 15 years of experience in multiple fields (e.g., HPC, Machine Learning, Engineering, Pharma, Business Management). We have team members that worked for the IBM T. J. Watson Research Center and in Silicon Valley for NVIDIA Corporation. Our preferred way to work is agile, with sprint of 2 weeks, and we are in charge to use AI/ML in any way that we think is useful for the organization.
The team's seek, incubate and deployment delivery model works by : 1) reach out to the business and discover the pain points; 2) develop/ leveraging new technologies, proof of concepts that provide reasons to believe to the stakeholders; and 3) transform the proof of concepts in worldwide projects and deploy them in the organization with operations teams.

This position requires hands-on experience in the Hadoop/Spark ecosystem, related tools (e.g., Hadoop, Hive, Sqoop, Pig) and R (e.g., sparklyr). You will automate the discovery, mapping, linking and cleaning of data sources implementing and using Extract Transform and Load (ETL) technologies and tools. You will not write Map Reduce jobs and Scala code, and will instead leverage existing packages that will translate and parallelize your code under the hood. The Data Scientists in the team will regularly engage with you in the training and testing of machine learning algorithms.
