Automation Informatics & Data Analyst

Basic qualifications:

Bachelors, Master or PhD in Computer Science/Engineering + experience in the industry

Experience developing and implementing data management and analysis tools.

Experience with imaging data analysis preferred.

Demonstrated understanding of drug discovery and familiarity with integrated automation systems, such as those employed in High Throughput Screening in the Pharmaceutical industry is desired.

Experience with bioactivity data analysis, and molecular profiling is desired.

Demonstrated ability to work in multi-disciplinary matrix teams, displaying excellent interpersonal skills.

Strong organizational and communication skills (both written and oral), with the ability to liaise with scientists and external collaborators at all levels.

Inquisitive, creative and bold.

The Discovery Biology Automation team is designing a data-intensive and complex workflow to accelerate drug discovery, which will include the automation of data capture, analysis, integration and model building. Specifically, we are seeking an automation informatics & data analyst dedicated to working on individual pipeline/project efforts, as well as designing and implementing automated informatics workflows that will ultimately be tied to our robotic platform. There is also a need to develop tools for remote instrument & robotic control as well as integrated QC tools to enable 24/7 operation of robotic platforms. The successful individual will be responsible for drawing upon experience and collaborating with internal experts to establish robust data flows associated with automated systems, enabling intelligent and automated drug discovery. In these uncharted territories, this individual will need to be inquisitive, creative and bold.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement efficient data capture, archiving, analysis and model-building workflows in concert with integrated automation platforms to enable intelligent drug discovery.

Develop tools for remote instrument & robotic control as well as integrated QC tools to enable 24/7 operation.

Design and build online data management and analytic capabilities for automated robotic platforms, as well as corresponding user interfaces.

Responsibilities will also include connectivity of automated systems with LIMS and coordination of high performance computing.

Work with the team to interface computational algorithms, sample storage and chemical synthesis platforms to the biology automation platform.

Independently author scientific papers and presentations, and help represent the team and GlaxoSmithKline at internal and external scientific meetings.
