Associate Statistical SAS Programmers

Your Responsibilities:
GlaxoSmithKline is one of the world's leading pharmaceutical and healthcare companies, with statisticians and programmers working in Research and Development at UK and US sites. The Quantitative Sciences division includes a Clinical Programming department, covering all phases of clinical drug development and commercialisation in a wide range of therapeutic areas. In recognition of the developing sophistication and technical requirements of the role, Clinical Programming was formed as a standalone department distinct to Clinical Statistics. In addition to the group's activities supporting GSK's pipeline of drugs, key accountabilities include developing and implementing strategies for programming resourcing using both internal, external, onshore and offshore resource; driving CDISC implementation for the reporting of clinical trials; and identifying and implementing IT solutions to offer further benefit and efficiency for the group's activities.

We have multiple roles in all of our therapy areas - Oncology, Respiratory, Immuno Inflammation, HIV / Infectious Diseases and Future Pipeline Development (Neuroscience, Exploratory Discovery and Global Health). Opportunities exist to work in specific or varied therapy areas (in the case of the FPD group), on complex studies or potential game changing products, across the full clinical trials process from Phase I to IV. On the job and structured training will be provided to develop your statistical SAS programming career with GSK.

Key responsibilities:

• Support the planning and execution of programming activities for GSK clinical trials.
• Creating and documenting analyses of clinical data while adhering to study protocols.
• Performs Quality Control (QC) of own work.
• Complete any post audit/inspection activities within the required timeline
• Executes tasks with supervision for third party oversight
• Keeps manager/supervisor informed of progress and activities; escalates issues as appropriate

Why You?

Basic qualifications:
• BSc or higher in mathematics / statistics, computer science or science / technology related discipline.
• New or recent graduate.

Preferred qualifications:
• Experience with at least one programming language (e.g. R, Python, S-Plus), preferably SAS.
• Basic understanding of the end to end clinical trial process.
• Effective written, verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
