How will you make an impact?

The Senior Scientist, Applied Research based in Waltham, MA is responsible for the development of Computer Vision software for use in ophthalmic medical devices, including algorithm prototyping and development, requirements analysis, design, implementation, and testing of software. This individual will work on complex algorithmic problems and will exercise independent judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. More broadly the Senior Scientist will contribute to the advancement of the Applied Research team's applications in Corneal Science. The candidate will report to the Director of Applied Research.

What will you do?

  • Responsible for early-stage research into new Computer Vision applications.
  • Responsible for software design and implementation of algorithmic solutions.
  • Work in a multidisciplinary environment with software/system engineers to obtain optimum system performance.
  • Responsible for the development of system/software/algorithm requirements and corresponding testing strategies.
  • Responsible for unit testing, and integration testing of software modules as needed for commercialization of algorithms.
  • Responsible for design documentation.
  • Use version control software for source code management.
  • Support maintenance and improvement of legacy products as required.
How will you get here?
  • M.S. or Ph.D in Computer Science or equivalent with a focus on Computer Vision.
  • 5+ years' experience developing software and algorithms for Computer Vision/Machine Learning applications.
  • Experience developing Computer Vision solutions in a regulated environment for medical applications is desired.
  • Experience developing machine learning algorithms for Computer Vision problems.
  • Experience with overall Machine Vision system design (Hardware/Cameras/Illumination).
  • Knowledge of mathematical modeling including finite element modeling is a plus.
  • Expertise with Python and C++.
  • A record of successful product development - concept through commercialization.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new languages, technologies, and tools.
  • Experienced at developing and following engineering requirements and specifications for design and implementation purposes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.

Founded in 1998, Glaukos Corporation is an ophthalmic medical technology and pharmaceutical company focused on novel therapies for the treatment of glaucoma, corneal disorders, and retinal diseases.
