Job Description Summary
Electrification and grid projects are large, multi-site, and technically demanding programs that rely on disciplined project controls to ensure predictable, efficient, and coordinated delivery. The Project Controls Excellence Manager strengthens this discipline by developing, implementing, and improving the region's planning, cost, and risk processes. The role drives process integration, digitalization, and continuous improvement, enabling project controls team to execute with higher accuracy, efficiency, and alignment across the full project lifecycle.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Process Analysis & Development
- Analyze existing project controls processes and identify gaps and improvement opportunities.
- Map current ("as-is") workflows and develop optimized ("to-be") processes, tools, and templates.
- Document standard procedures, templates, and work instructions.

Process Implementation & Integration
- Implement standardized planning, scheduling, cost, and risk processes across regional projects.
- Ensure integration and alignment between cost, schedule, and risk workflows.
- Provide operational support to project teams during process deployment.
Efficiency, Performance & Continuous Improvement
- Identify and deliver efficiency gains through automation, digital workflows, and lean practices.
- Maintain performance metrics (KPIs) and track process effectiveness.
- Recommend improvement actions based on performance trends.
Digitalization & Tools Optimization
- Develop automated dashboards and reporting tools using Power BI, Power Automate, and Excel.
- Ensure data quality and consistency across P6, SAP/ERP, cost systems, and reporting tools.
- Maintain and enhance template libraries for planning, cost, and risk.
Operational Support to Project Teams
- Support baseline development, monthly schedule updates, cost updates, and risk review cycles.
- Validate data accuracy across cost, schedule, and risk tools.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, commercial, finance, and other departments to ensure synchronized project controls data and reporting.
- Contribute to clear communication and unified reporting across functions.
Training & Knowledge Building
- Develop training materials and guides for project controls tools and processes.
- Deliver targeted training and support capability development across the region.
Reporting & Performance Support
- Support preparation of departmental project controls reports, summaries, dashboards, and performance insights.
- Ensure data consistency, completeness, and clarity in all reporting outputs.
Support to Departmental Strategic Plan
- Contribute to the execution of project controls strategic initiatives.
- Translate improvement plans into practical actions and measurable results.
- Provide structured feedback to support departmental decision-making.
Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Information Technology (Master's is an advantage).
- 8-12+ years of hands-on project controls experience (planning, scheduling, cost control, risk).
- Professional certification preferred (e.g., PMP, PMI-SP, PSP, CCP, PMO).
- Strong capability in root-cause analysis to identify true underlying problems.
- High proficiency in data and information analytics, including Power BI, Excel, and digital workflows.
- Expertise in Primavera P6, cost-schedule integration, and cross-functional data alignment.
- Proven ability to implement, optimize, and standardize project controls processes and templates.
- Experience with automation, digitalization, and AI-driven improvements to increase efficiency and decision-making quality.
- Strong understanding of modern project controls technology, including AI-assisted schedule/cost analytics, workflow automation, and integrated reporting systems.
- Fluency in English required; German language skills are an advantage.
