Job Description Summary
The Lead Engineer in the Compressor Airfoils team will lead the activities contributing to the design and development of products, solutions and systems related to New products in Compressor Airfoil components. Leading activities linked to technical improvement of new and existing product components and skillset development within the team. In this role the Lead engineer is expected to be engaged in New design and product development, Product cost out and design robustness improvement programs.

- This role involves mechanical design and component ownership of Compressor Airfoil components.
- Project scope includes NPIs, services programs, Product Cost-Out, supply chain activities for new designs.
- Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work would include mechanical engineering for all products.
- Establish personal/RCA/program schedule to deliver engineering definition and analysis. Conduct technical reviews for design tasks with Controlled Title Holders (CTHs), following the documented NPI and RCA processes. Evaluate and mitigate component/system level risks.
- Be a champion for Lean and continuous improvement. Develop standard work and identify creative ways to improve our processes and design methods.
- Maintain strong relationships with Fleet and DLE teams. Keep abreast of ongoing field and manufacturing issues
- Utilizes in-depth knowledge of a discipline and analytical thinking to execute policy/strategy. Basic knowledge of related job disciplines.
- Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
- Must exercise independent judgment to develop creative solutions for complex daily challenges, including those beyond standard procedures. Required skills include the ability to prioritize data for analysis, apply technical expertise and analytical thinking, and collaborate across internal teams with occasional external stakeholder engagement
- Lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements. Develop skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field. Conveys performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues.
- Support & involvement in broad company-wide initiatives in support of GE Gas Power business objectives (i.e.P2V, Lean and Problem Solving)

Required Qualifications
- Master's or bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college; or relevant experience that would be equal to a bachelor's degree.
- 6+ years of Gas Turbine engineering experience.
Desired Characteristics
- Experience in Gas turbine component design and analysis
- Relevant experience designing, servicing, or testing gas turbine hardware.
- Proficient with ANSYS, NX, and other analytical tools.
- Understanding of GD&T and ability to interpret engineering drawings & BOMs.
- Strong organizational & communication skills.
- Demonstrated capability in collaborating in a matrixed global organization.
- Humble, open, and a continuous learner. Able to collaborate across global teams.
- Ability to rapidly change directions for multiple concurrent projects based on emergent business priorities.
