Job Description Summary

Working within the Construction & Commissioning (C&C) organization, reporting to the C&C Regional Manager and the Site Manager / Overall Construction Manager, the piping supervisor is in charge of the Balance of Plant (BOP) - OFF BASE piping system pre-fabrication & installation for all the system feeding the Gas Turbine/Generator shaft line equipment & associated auxiliaries in open & combined cycle plant configuration for extended scope .

He works daily with the Global Field Operation (GFO) site installation & commissioning team, partner & sub-contractors site team, with the GFO installation principal engineer and with the other Global Projects Operation (GPO) functions.

Responsible for activities related to the construction, building and commissioning on customer site, from site mobilization, through civil, erection and commissioning work, as well as management activities related to this scope. Impacts departmental operations and responsible for planning/execution. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required but this is typically with guidance.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Site activities related to Electrical works installation of equipment and plant scope.
  • May lead others directly or indirectly and/or sponsor subcontractors.
  • Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.
  • In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
  • Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
  • A job at this level is likely to be an individual contributor with proven interpersonal skills or an early people leader who can hire and develop talent. Provides informal guidance to new team members.
  • High mobility to work domestically or overseas following different global project locations.

Required Qualifications

  • This role requires advanced experience in the Project Management & Electrical Construction. Knowledge level is comparable to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college ( or a high school diploma with relevant experience).
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / General Education Diploma (GED) with at least 6 years of experience in Job Family Group(s)/Function(s)).
  • Perform detailed material inventory of GE supplied material.
  • Collect material certificate of all electrical components.
  • Review the testing requirement for all electrical equipment and components before installation activities start.
  • Ensure Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) compliance with Site Quality Supervisor (SQS) for all cable and equipment testing records.
  • Report cost of non-quality with GE tools : Service-Now, Engineering Request.
  • Perform final inspection of all systems.
  • Document quality plan & inspection sheets timely and follow up red marked-up documentation.
  • Attend systems walk down for turn over to commissioning, follow up punch list item resolution
  • Document means (personnel man-hours per discipline, cranes, scaffolding...) utilized during installation for future budget purpose.
  • Document cost of non-quality.
  • Issue progress report to the Construction Manager or Site Manager and Turn Key / Self Implementation Installation Leader.
  • Issue end of assignment report and edit Lessons Learned.

  • Experience in installation and commissioning
  • Proficiency with computer tools
  • Fluent in English and other language especially Mandarin is a plus.
