Job Description Summary

The Advanced Component Design Engineer is responsible for creating, developing, and deploying next generation product components and technologies for use in NPI programs. The role is a hybrid position requiring cooperation with other engineering teams, product management, manufacturing, and Vernova Advanced Research Center. This position is primarily a multi-disciplinary design engineering role.

What impact you'll make

• Design, assess and validate next generation components in close collaboration with key experts and strategic partners. Develop and deploy cross-disciplinary skills in mechanical design, heat transfer, aerodynamics, materials, manufacturing, and complex solid modeling. Cooperate with other Departments, Vernova Advanced Research Center, or other 3rd parties to create dependable new technologies aligned to product need.
• Energize peers with a creative and innovative problem-solving mindset with encouraging, inclusive and open-minded problem solving. Create intellectual property applications to protect company assets. Implement LEAN methods for continuous improvement to eliminate waste and increase speed.
• Execute structured problem solving and advanced computational approaches using techniques such as design-of-experiments, machine learning and probabilistic forecasting to determine the possible and probable.
• Comply with US Export Compliance regulations.

• B.S degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering discipline
• Basic experience with 3D CAD software - NX preferred.
• Familiarity with FEM methods - ANSYS preferred.
• Familiarity with programming - Python preferred.

• This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government export restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Persons (U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents and protected individuals (e.g., certain refugees and asylees)). GE Vernova will require proof of status prior to employment.

• Experience designing, manufacturing and validating Gas Power gas turbine products.
• Demonstrated "can-do" curious and creative mindset to identify and investigate new technologies; demonstrated enthusiasm to lead higher risk pre-NPI technology development programs.
• Demonstrated problem solving using traditional and advanced computation methods.
• Inclusive and engaging listening and communication skills.
• Advanced degree in mechanical design, structural analysis, heat transfer, or manufacturing.
• Production manufacturing experience.
