Genesys is currently searching for a Software Engineer to join our Belfast team. The successful applicant will work in a highly collaborative environment to create world-class products in new and existing Genesys product suites. The Belfast team is responsible for development of a customer experience platform spanning telephony, mobile applications, web interfaces, chat clients, bots and more. Development will range from web application development, core Java development, integration with various databases technologies, front-end work including JavaScript and CSS, integration to messaging systems and more.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful applicant will:

  • Develop high quality software that meets specified requirements.
  • Write code to given technical specifications.
  • Analyse product requirements, design and develop new product modules.
  • Gather product requirements from consultants and customers.
  • Analyse product requirements, design and develop new product modules.
  • Create estimates against requirements and develops to estimates created by other engineers.
  • Implement product features and associated unit and integration tests of required scripts.
  • Define and execute test plans of implemented modules and features.
  • Apply all relevant standards and procedures to their work.
  • Reproduce and fix defects.
  • Be quality focused, highly flexible and enthusiastic in the pursuit of duties.
  • Be capable of delivering a defined scope to a deadline.
  • Actively participate in collaborative agile development process to meet delivery dates.

Minimum Requirements:

Required

  • Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering or other that includes significant programming experience.
  • Awareness of networking principles, addressing and common protocols.
  • Ability to break down and estimate tasks.
  • Capable of effective prioritisation of tasks and personal time management.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience with Java and Javascript development.
  • Ability to debug through code to identify and rectify issues.
  • Experience with web services, making GET or POST requests. Using XML or JSON.
  • Awareness of networking principles, addressing and common protocols.
  • Experience writing Javascript and CSS.
  • Unit testing.
  • Ability to understand and write SQL.
  • Connecting the code base to appropriate databases.
  • Understanding of development best practices.
  • Highly articulate with strong communication skills.
  • Experience using source repositories.
  • Working closely in and communicating with other members of the team.

Preferable Experience

  • Use of the Eclipse IDE.
  • Usage of source repository, preferably Git.
  • Groovy development.
  • Specific experience using Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle and/or Postgres.
  • Use of web containers, preferably Apache Tomcat.
  • Ability to navigate around a Linux environment.
  • Experience using Java memory analysers and profilers.
  • Build experience, specifically using Ivy.
  • Good understanding of process and methods such as Agile, specifically SCRUM.
