Senior Director, Facilities
The Senior Director of Facilities is responsible for managing the design, planning, construction and maintenance of equipment, machinery, buildings and other facility related aspects for 65 global offices. In addition, this position is responsible for managing the environmental, industrial, health and safety regulation compliance for the global organization. This position plans, budgets and schedules facility modifications and oversees the development and implementation of environmental health and safety policies to be used throughout the organization. Develops and maintains internal control mechanisms to assure accountability within the support departments and coordinates assigned activities with other divisions, departments, and outside agencies. Responsible for the supervision, management, and oversight of facilities master planning, capital assets, architectural and interior design, capital construction and renovations, facilities services (custodial, grounds, and trades), energy management, real estate management, space planning, and sustainability. Manages all commercial real estate holdings owned / leased

Facilities Management: Supervises commercial real estate rentals, leases, and other property management responsibilities for corporate and satellite office locations worldwide. Manages facilities operations to include maintenance, janitorial and grounds operations, planning, design, cost analysis, feasibility studies, and administration for all new construction and renovation or modification of existing infrastructure across the organization. Manages the campus energy needs and consumption. Oversees safety, security, and fleet management for the organization. Negotiates and administers contracts with outside vendors, architects, and others. Interprets the department's policies and procedures to employees, visitors, government agencies, etc. Ensures outsourced providers are meeting negotiated performance guarantees.
Project Management: Plans, directs, oversees, and participates in the development of divisional work plans to include all construction projects and facilities services operations. Supervises and participates in the development of RFPs, bids, contracts and proposals for construction and facilities related services to meet short term and long-range planning needs. Works with architects, engineers, and consultants as needed to procure buildings/facilities. Oversees construction projects from inception through construction, close-out, and warranty period. Participates in the development of project plans, schedules, contract/agreements, and budgets. Administers construction activities for major renovation and new construction work. Monitors projects through participation in progress meetings with contractors, architects, and engineers. Coordinates with key stakeholders throughout the course of projects. Ensures all necessary regulatory approvals and/or permissions are secured to facilitate timely project completion.
Program Management: Implements, directs and monitors logistical support strategies and efforts. Conducts short and long-range facility space and master planning, work flow analysis, and facility usage. Ensures internal and external customer satisfaction through high levels of efficiency, cooperation, quality service, and logistical support. Develops, implements and evaluates programs and strategies designed to create and maintain safe, functional, secure, clean and orderly facilities ensuring an efficient and economical operation.
Safety, Security, and Risk Management: Leads a proactive and collaborative approach to safety, security, risk assessment, and management and mitigation for all locations. Maintains and updates the company's Emergency Operations Plan. Works with senior leaders when appropriate and manages incidents that may arise that impact normal business operations. Designs and implements security policies and procedures, investigations, reports, coordination and liaison with appropriate law and safety authorities and the contracted security company. Directs the coordination of safety drills (natural disasters, active shooter, fire, lockdown, shelter-in-place, etc.) for all staff. Ensures compliance with regulations related to Hazardous Waste Management Plan, OSHA, Hazardous Material Transportation Act, EPA and other requirements by state and federal agencies. Manages enforcement activities to include identifying, removing, transporting and disposing of hazardous materials.
Strategic Planning: Participates in the development and implementation of the company's long-range strategic facility plan ensuring it is consistent with the overall master plan. Develops, plans, and participates in the implementation of divisional goals by actively participating in strategic planning and goals setting activities. Initiates and recommends actions to accomplish these objectives.
Continuous Improvement: Manages and provides continuous quality improvement to all aspects of facility operations. Establishes quantitative measures to ensure ongoing quality with emphasis being placed on improvements based on best practice to operational processes.
Team Management: Ensures the facilities organization is structured and staffed to effectively and efficiently manage across multiple domestic and international locations. Appropriately staffs and budgets for each of the Corporate Support Services departments. Oversees recruitment, training, supervision, and evaluations of staff. Provides leadership and mentoring to reporting departments / managers to ensure consistency and skill development. Reviews the department's policies, procedure manuals, job descriptions, etc., at least annually for revisions.
- Bachelor's degree and CPM designation
- 12 years of progressively responsible leadership and management experience with demonstrated success in a highly complex organization.
- 10 years' experience managing a portfolio of facilities across the US.
- 3-5 years of global facilities management experience.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills
- Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills
- Working knowledge of financial principles and practices of project management.
- Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
- Working knowledge of procurement and contracts.
- Sound knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Experience in construction, maintenance, and all facets of facility operation
- Ability to positively lead and manage talent (supervision, performance management, and coaching). Demonstrated success in leading a team in a distributed location environment. Highly developed organizational management, problem solving, presentation, project management, and analytical skills with the ability to recognize and accommodate changing priorities. Ability to make independent decisions and exercise sound judgment.
