Group Manager, PMO Management Information & Insights
Description
Group Manager, PMO Management Information & Insights
Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Technical/Innovation Center in Warren (MI), Austin (TX), or Mountain View (CA) three times per week, at minimum. This position can be located at any of these locations.
The Role
We're seeking a strategic yet hands-on leader to define and deliver the future of Management Information (MI), reporting, and insights across the PMO. This role sits at the intersection of data strategy, storytelling, and portfolio execution - enabling senior leadership to make faster, smarter decisions through high-quality, actionable insights.
You will lead a small but high-performing team responsible for establishing the MI strategy, building scalable data products (dashboards, reports, and analytics pipelines), and ensuring that information is consistent, trusted, and decision-ready.
This is a player-coach role: you'll both set the long-term strategy and personally build and deliver high-impact dashboards and narratives that connect data to business outcomes.
Why This Role Matters
GM's vehicle portfolio is evolving faster than ever and demand sharper insight and tighter alignment across the enterprise. This role defines how we measure what matters - turning data into the connective tissue between strategy, capacity, and execution.
What You'll Do
- Define the Management Information & Reporting Strategy: Establish the long-term vision, principles, and architecture for how management information, reporting, and dashboards support portfolio and capacity decision-making.
- Be a player-coach: Lead and mentor a small team (~3-5 analysts/BI developers) while remaining deeply hands-on in shaping data models, dashboard designs, and executive-level storytelling.
- Build decision-grade data products: Design, prototype, and deliver dashboards and reports that serve as the single source of truth for program health, capacity, and delivery performance.
- Drive integration and automation: Partner with data engineering and IT to integrate data from Jira, Anaplan, and enterprise systems - ensuring seamless, real-time visibility across the PMO.
- Elevate how insights are communicated: Transform complex data into simple, compelling stories that drive alignment and action at the leadership level.
- Standardize and scale: Create frameworks for KPI definition, governance, and dashboard lifecycle management, ensuring consistency across teams and tools.
- Foster a data-driven culture: Promote insight fluency across the PMO, helping teams move from reporting to truly understanding what the data means and how to act on it.
