Senior Windows Administrator


The Senior Windows Administrator's role is to ensure the stable operation of all in-house Microsoft infrastructures. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, securing, updating and optimizing all hardware with the Windows O/S installed. The person will provide support staff training where required.


  • Manage servers, including, but not limited to, e-mail, print, database, Citrix, IIS, DFS, and backup servers and their associated operating systems and software.
  • Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of server hardware and software.
  • Monitor email and ticketing queues for proactive self-assignment of tasks and respond in the appropriate manner (phone, email, in person). Inform other team members of work status.
  • Document job functions and procedures as necessary, as well as provide training for team members
  • Collaborate with System Architects on emerging products, technologies, services, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.
  • Provide escalated end user support for all phones, conferencing, and related hardware.
  • Backup servers and their associated operating systems and software.

  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2/2012 R2/2016 operating systems and understanding of basic Microsoft networking.
  • Experience, and understanding, of Microsoft SQL, Exchange, IIS, DFS, PowerShell, SharePoint, TFS, Azure, and System Center technologies is desirable.
  • Experience, and understanding, of backup technologies, virtualization technologies, and Microsoft Active Directory is required.
  • Effectively perform server and security audits.


  • Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology and minimum of ten years' experience in IT or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. MCITP is desirable.

Organizational Relationships

  • Reports to the IT Manager, and will receive mentoring from the Senior Windows Administrators team, as well as the IT Manager.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to assist in the installation of servers and network equipment in a standard 42u rack.
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a computer.
  • Fast-paced environment with deadlines often demanding prolonged work hours for completion of projects.
  • Keyboarding 75% of time.
