Research VP, Gartner Research


Position Summary

Lead analyst responsible for creating a body of research and analysis, communicating it to clients and supporting the Sales organization in selling and retention. A recognized subject matter expert in one or more topic areas and recognized in the industry for both strength and impact

Responsibilities


I.   Demonstrate thought leadership through research notes and presentation
II.  Engage with Gartner Executive Programs members or prospect CIOs to demonstrate the value of Gartner Executive Programs services
§ Define and conduct ongoing research and analysis either in a specific or multiple areas of expertise
§ Perform research by reading, networking with clients, vendors and analysts, evaluating and analyzing information and participating in Research meetings or other activities that comprise the research process, as well as through interviews, surveys, statistical analysis
§ Create specified high-value written documentation of research in fulfillment of Gartner's commitment to clients
§ Respond to client inquiries as required
§ Define, lead and conduct client audio teleconferences
§ Present at multiple conferences as the industry expert
§ Provide individualized consulting for clients regarding Gartner research or provide advice to a user or vendor client
§ Provide sales support by speaking to prospective and existing clients by telephone, face-to-face sales calls
§ Deliver presentations to prospective clients at seminars
§ Produce industry/role-specific research as necessary
§ Act as primary press analyst
§ Manage and perform broad and complex responsibilities, often with conflicting time demands
§ Provide thought leadership in specific subject matter
§ Manage, motivate and mentor direct reports

Job Requirements:

Qualifications

Skills / Experience

§ Management experience in large IT organization (more than 50 IT staffs including IT subsidiary) or consulting engagement experience in following areas

Ø Development of IT strategic plan based on midterm corporate plan, including application, IT infrastructure, human resource and funding, a must

Ø Design IT related organization structure including IT department, user department, IT subsidiary, steering committee and vendors, preferable

Ø Development of IT project evaluation process for both project-approval phase and post implementation review, preferable

Ø Development of global IT management process including budget planning, project evaluation, standard application package and standard IT infrastructure, preferable

Ø Development of IT procurement process and performing vendor selection for big deals, preferable

§ Demonstrated ability to piece together fragments of information, applying conceptual models, recognizing patterns and drawing and defending conclusions

§ Credibility as industry leader to represent Gartner research methodology and strategies effectively at all levels of client organizations

§ Proven capability to develop new business development opportunities

§ Knowledge of job responsibilities and challenges of CIOs in major corporations

§ More than 10 years of work experience within the technology field

Academic Qualifications

§ University degree in Japan or abroad
§ MBA, MS in information systems/computer science advantageous

§ Advanced-level English proficiency preferable
