Technical Support Specialist

The Gap Inc Photo Studio is seeking a Technical Support Specialist to support the specialized needs of technology in a photographic studio setting. This role is an all-around computer, network, color and imaging expert. Must be mature, level-headed, self-motivated and able to easily change priorities and direction as needed. This person must be a professional, responsive communicator with top-notch organization skills.


  • Interacts regularly with Photo Studio staff – Digital Technicians, Photographers, Account Managers, Brand Producers, Digital Artists
  • Medium to high level of complexity
  • Professionally represents Photo Studio to the rest of the company by being innovative, fast-moving and team-oriented


  • First line of support for technical issues with Photo Studio shooting and Digital Artist workstations in a primarily Macintosh environment
  • Organizes and purchases software for all of the shooting machines in two Photo Studios. Makes sure that software on all machines is consistent and compatible with operating systems. Tests all software on machines before installation
  • Keeps an inventory of all the computers/serial numbers/locations of all shooting machines in two Photo Studios
  • Provides second level technical support on image moving server when needed. Backs up the lead technical coordinator for server support and other tasks as needed
  • Maintains a local image server
  • Assists Photo Studio and brand teams in tracking down image files that were misplaced or missing, troubleshoots problems with automation processes
  • Works with the Digital Tech teams on automation solutions for photographic processes
  • Adds/assigns/keeps track of users in the Photo Studio Filemaker database
  • Able to troubleshoot problems with the network and communicate issues to the proper technical business partners as needed
  • Has basic scripting knowledge and abilities – able to script solutions using AppleScript, Javascript, UNIX (command line) and/or web-based scripting languages. Python, PHP and MySQL experience is a plus
  • Knows Photoshop – can troubleshoot Photoshop technical issues
  • Knows Capture One software – can troubleshoot Capture One issues
  • Working knowledge of photographic and video equipment
  • Working knowledge of image file compression
  • Fields all technical questions for both photo studios
  • Experience with Adobe AEM asset manager a plus
  • Will regularly need to create asset reports, shot count reports, and other data-driven information for Photo Studio needs


  • Possess Macintosh workstation support experience with a strong emphasis on Macintosh System Support
  • Ability to take initiative.
  • Own resolution of issues with minimal guidance
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly
  • Demonstrated organizational skills
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to successfully troubleshoot issues
  • Possess Adobe Photoshop (Macintosh) experience
  • Possess Capture One experience
  • Preferred experience in Workflow Automation
  • Preferred experience in web programming and server processes, including HTML, Python, PHP, MySQL and other applicable coding languages
