Senior Director, Marketing, Global Franchise, Gap Inc.


Responsible for leading the team to create the strategy, planning and implementation of Franchise marketing to drive the overall brand positioning and specific product and seasonal messages for Gap Inc. family of brands. This role could be based in New York City, NY or San Francisco, CA

  • Work closely with Brand CMOs on setting high level marketing strategy (both annually and seasonally) and to ensure marketing plans support business objectives and creative direction
  • Work closely with Franchise LT to ensure alignment on business goals and strategies
  • Partner with Global Marketing leaders on creative requirements for all regions
  • Partner with Field leadership to solicit inputs on operational execution
  • Collaborate with Franchise Visual Merchandising on alignment of in-store marketing messaging
  • Partner on communication with franchisees for all marketing activity across all channels
  • Lead Marketing needs: Media, Engagement Marketing/Events, Digital Marketing, WIS Account Management and integration of all channels
  • Ability to lead PR on a global level, including having digital expertise supporting our online growth


  1. Drive strategic marketing plan:

  • Work closely with Brand CMO teams to build strategic marketing plan that is aligned and support long-range business goals. Use global quantitative and qualitative research studies to inform this strategic work (partnering with local and global consumer insights.)
  • Partner with insights teams to develop local consumer and market trend information to global marketing team
  • Partner with field to provide insight direction on planning and in-season marketing initiatives
  1. Drive annual and seasonal marketing strategy and plan:
  • Work closely with Brand CMO and team to formulate annual marketing plan that best support business objectives as well as strategic marketing plan
  • Work closely with Brand CMO teams to build seasonal marketing plan that best support seasonal business objectives and product strategies
  • Lead brand Franchise marketing to carry out seasonal marketing execution. Ensure every aspect of execution are aligned and support overall marketing plan
  • Ensure overall global alignment with direction on any important cultural or market differences
  • Develop market-specific briefs when needed
  • Partner with Partner Support Leader to manage annual/seasonal project pipeline and key milestones
  • Manage Franchise Marketing Calendar
  • Drive seasonal/monthly promotion and event planning in close partnership with Brand CMO teams and franchisees
  • Build promotion and event plans that drive and achieve business objectives
  • Plan and execute Flagship events in close partnership with Field Leadership and new store opening marketing
  1. Participate in global marketing community:
  • Participate in global marketing community in terms of regular touch bases and conference calls
  • Be a market expert and a good partner
  • Provide necessary market information to global teams
  • Share and cascade global information among in-country teams
  • Responsible for integrating and supporting Global Geographies and diverse sets of business needs (cultural differences, religious events/holidays and political sensitivities)
  1. Communication:
  • Lead seasonal conference calls with franchise partners and other functional leads to provide an interactive forum between the franchisee and all brands, as well as to set marketing priorities
  • Proactively trouble shoot marketing issues according to business needs, local trends and customs
  • Collect feedback on seasonal campaigns or strategies, to be incorporated for future seasons
  • Ensure that seasonal messages related to marketing have been communicated to franchise partners in a timely manner
  • Deliver seasonal hindsight to internal Franchise business partners
  1. Manage marketing budget and team:
  • Manage budget and allocate budget in close partnership with Brand CMO teams
  • Lead and manage Franchise marketing team day to day and the team's professional development




  • 7+ years of brand marketing in leadership roles, Preferably in Fashion, Retail or other Consumer Goods Brands
  • Strong overall Marketing experience with Fashion, Retail or other Consumer Goods Brands
  • Able to write excellent Briefs
  • Ability to forge strong cross-functional partnerships
  • An expressed understanding of the Gap brand (including aesthetic, taste level)
  • Proven experience and ability to work with Creative organizations.
  • Thinker that comes up with ideas
  • Marketing experience working with world class brands a plus
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to apply strategic thinking to Brand Marketing
  • Flexible and open to change in direction
  • Able to lead and influence remotely
  • Global marketplace knowledge
  • Minimum educational level: BA or BS or higher
