Merchandise Manager - Performance/Seamless

Merchandise Manager, Performance/Seamless The Merchandising Manager of Product Development VM will be responsible and accountable for monitoring the entire product development pipeline from development through to order placement by driving product excellence in the delivery, quality, cost and service level agreement required of external and internal customers. S/he will also be responsible for product innovation and proposing cost saving opportunities that are aligned with sourcing and vendor strategies cascaded by Category Sourcing team. S/he will also be responsible for bringing in new vendors to support the delivery of our business strategy and growth plan. Job Responsibilities: Builds effective strategic relationships with business partners and successfully leverages these relationships across varied functions with internal stakeholders, external suppliers, agencies and colleagues to drive the results for the assigned portfolio of the specific RDC. Partner with design team on developing the assortment including inspiration shopping trips, vendor visits and sample approval. Manage garment and product development processes in a timely manner Manage development sampling and initial costs Ensure product execution meets the design aesthetic as well as commercially acceptable quality standards Escalation of any quality issues to the Category Sourcing team Work with vendors/tech team to ensure VDA for labdips and ensure VDA for fits/sampling changes Manage vendor relationship and new vendor on-boarding training Manages vendor loading in capacity process Monitoring vendor performance and Cost negotiation with vendors Holds vendors accountable to performance agreements and determines when course corrections are necessary and aligns with Director and Category Lead on final decision. Mediates between key vendors and Global Compliance team to ensure vendor compliance at all times to Gap vendor code of conduct Manages and facilitate major claim settlement between customers and suppliers Leverages analysis and experience to identify and prioritize new sourcing opportunities and creates resource plans to achieve goals and targets for department within global Category Executes the continuous improvement process for programs identified within his/her purview Responsible for developing the leadership and coaching skills of direct reports. Acts as a role model for employing technical and soft skills for the department Leads performance management from goal setting and development planning, through mid- and year-end performance reviews. Helps prioritize workload. Manages, trains & and coaches the team to be customer-focused, innovative, fast and team-oriented in their work Responsible for capability development, employee engagement and Succession planning within his/her team of product development & Vendor Development. Partners with category/department leaders to identify needs and plan development and skill building for sourcing talent Shares best in practices and key learning’s across functions, channels and geographies Requirements: Bachelor's degree in textile, merchandising, business administration, supply chain management, or related discipline; MBA or advanced degree preferred Minimum of 8 years work experience in merchandise sourcing, development and production with at least 2 years in leading a team Experience in sample development/production follow up and with direct factory production exposure Familiar in construction and testing requirement Possess a clear understanding of financial measurements and how to impact product development Strong eye for product, understanding of target customer and knowledge of product trends Demonstrated ability to deal head-on with issues and challenging situations Ability to assess talent and manage, motivate and develop international/regional direct reports Ability to influence peers and business partners to achieve business results Ability to learn and become a subject matter expert quickly Ability to plan and successfully lead complex negotiations Ability to plan, prioritize and adapt to change while achieving and maintaining results for multiple projects Ability to effectively manage and plan resources to achieve goals and support unplanned work Strong analytical and problem solving capabilities; can see a problem from multiple angles and provide viable, innovative options for resolution Be strategically agile.
