Manager Merchandise Planning

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: OPERATIONS/FINANCIAL: Manage the financial success of a sub-brand by meeting sales, gross margin, gross margin return on investment (GMROI) and inventory turn goals. Lead the team to analyze historical data and current trends to identify risks and opportunities by Division and Department. Collaborate with merchandising to develop and communicate a comprehensive strategy that aligns future financial and business opportunities by Division and Department. Create pre-season sales, gm, and inventory plans by Division and Department that support product strategies. Lead the team to recap and analyze actual sales results to plan, and forecast in-season sales and inventories on a weekly / monthly / quarterly basis. Identify risks and opportunities to business and recommend strategies to achieve financial goals. Own open to buy forecasts. Lead & review financial forecast of each division and supporting action plans in open to buy/monthly forecast meeting Review and communicate Division level markdown recommendations and strategies. Manage the above responsibilities with minimum direction from the director. COMMUNICATION: Communicate financial results, forecasts, and action plans to director on a weekly basis. Present financial plans, forecasts and strategies in key meetings. PEOPLE LEADERSHIP/RELATIONSHIPS: Support a collaborative, innovative, and results-oriented environment with peers and cross-functional team. Provide director with timely feedback on personal developmental and training needs. May act as a buddy to multiple new hires. Collaborate with peers and advise planners/analysts and new hires to ensure consistency of information, share best-practices and develop systems knowledge. May manage and support the career development process of one or more Planners/Planning Analysts to ensure job satisfaction, retention and foster rapid skill development and performance improvement.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possesses a clear understanding of financial measurements which could include; sales, gross margin, gross margin return on investment (GMROI), weeks on hand (WOH), weeks of supply (WOS), etc. and how to impact them
  • Facility with personal computers, including the ability or aptitude to learn technical applications quickly
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel
  • Language: Fluency in English is a must and Mandarin preferred.
  1. Minimum educational level:
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience required
  1. Previous experience desired:
  • 2+ years experience as a manager/associate manager
  • 5+ years of retail buying, planning or related analytical experience
  1. Physical Requirements:
  • Proficient in Excel
  • Willingness to travel overseas
