About the role
The position is responsible for government affairs matters in Shanghai/East China area as Gap establishes its retail business throughout in these cities. The person will act as liaison with government agencies in Shanghai/East China area. This opportunity is for those who are interested and excited by working in a start-up environment of an established organization that requires flexibility and an ability to adapt to an unpredictable environment.
What you'll do
- Act as liaison between government body and Gap China within
Shanghai/East
China area and responsible for maintaining positive dialogue with government agencies, authorities and business partners to achieve Gap China's goals. Develop a forward-looking corporate strategy and plan. - Build and maintain strong regular dialogue with municipal governments and local authorities to support Gap China's operations and high profile activities at the local level; and with related officials in the municipal government, including the municipal Commission of Commerce, Administration of Industry and Commerce, etc., and other relevant governmental institutions
- To establish and maintain strong network relationships with the government, industry associations, ngos and other target external stakeholders to better support the development of the company's business
- Support the business departments to communicate with the relevant government agencies for the government inspections
- Maintain smooth communication with internal stakeholders. To respond effectively, proactively and impactfully to emergencies
- Effective participation in and leveraging of trade associations
- Gather information on legal policies and regulations
- Monitor and communicate public polices and regulations related to business operations to minimize policyegulatory risks
- Maintain transparent and effective communication and collaborative relationships among business partners in the region
- Lobby on public policy matters to ensure a favourable policy egulatory environment for the company's business operations
- Develop corporate social responsibility strategies/themes and coordinate and drive community plans and project implementation
- To advise and assist the regional corporate affairs team in all aspects of their work at the local level
- Established knowledge of Chinese regulations and policies in the areas of foreign investment and retail business
- Strong communication skill
- Project management skills
- Established network of political and business contacts in China
- Experience with a multinational company and familiarity with cultural differences between U.S. and China is desired
- Knowledge of the apparel and retail industries are preferred
- Comfortable with a substantial portion time dedicated to domestic travel
- Good oral and written communication skills in English is preferred
- University degree required, advanced degree preferred
- 5+ years of relevant work experience in government affairs
- successful experience in dealing with Chinese provincial and local regulators
