Maintenance Technician (2nd shift)

Work Schedule: SUN-THUR (4:30am to 2:30am) or MON-FRI (3pm to 11pm)


This position is responsible for all equipment Preventative Maintenance (PM's) and repairs to forklifts, conveyors, associated DC equipment, general maintenance of the DC, and the ability to perform all lower level technician duties. Identify and troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical failures. This position requires the ability to effectively troubleshoot and repair industrial electrical controls. This position is responsible for leading technicians in the completion of assigned projects, including critical rebuilds. This position functions as a lead technician in the absence of the supervisor. Develop expert level knowledge of all DC technology, systems, and process flows. Provide technical training to Technician Assistant's, Technician I's, and Technician II's. Work within safety guidelines and under the guidance of the maintenance supervisor.


  • Able to perform all duties associated with lower level technician positions
  • Ability to conduct all major repairs/tasks with shop equipment: band saw, Arc and Mig welders, torch, Install copper tubing, Hydraulic press; drill press; grinder
  • Perform all conveyor maintenance tasks:
  • Critical preventative and predictive maintenance
  • Motor and speed reducer rebuilds
  • ID, research, and cross-reference parts
  • Ability to maintain, repair, and troubleshoot complex sortation systems
  • Perform all forklift maintenance tasks:
  • Critical preventative and predictive maintenance
  • Drive unit and component rebuilds
  • Ability to maintain, repair, and troubleshoot forklift components and systems
  • Perform associated maintenance tasks on 3-phase electrical systems under 600 volts (to include all subsystems):
  • Critical preventative and predictive maintenance

Ability to troubleshoot, repair/replace system components

  • Perform advanced conveyor system controls maintenance:
  • Proper use of electrical PPE and tools
  • Size and install electrical circuits
  • Advance troubleshooting – to include use of wiring diagrams; ability to interrupt relay logic; develop SOP's
  • PLC – advance understanding of ladder logic and navigation of software to troubleshoot and replace components
  • Perform general plumbing tasks
  • Lead special projects
  • Communicate effectively with all DC personnel; effectively communicate on a technical level with all maintenance staff
  • Must remain proficient in all maintenance areas associated with the assigned facility
  • Able to operate all maintenance tools to include forklifts and lift equipment



Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Must be able to demonstrate electrical and PLC knowledge—understanding electrical prints; troubleshooting; safe practices
  • Strong written and oral communication skills—to include various software applications
  • Must maintain a professional demeanor and appearance at all times

Education & General Requirements :

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Two (2) years of practical experience as a Maintenance Technician

Physical Qualifications:

  • Stand and walk for up to 100% of shift
  • Ability to lift, push, pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull up to 20-30 lbs. for approximately 50% of shift
  • Ability to go up and down stairs up to 10% of shift
  • Reach at shoulder level for approximately 50% of shift
  • Reach overhead for approximately 10% of shift
  • Must have sufficient arm/hands dexterity to operate equipment
  • Sufficient sight to accurately read essential operational equipment
