Maintenance Mechanic II


To understand the full operation of all maintenance functions and to be able to relate to complex instructions on maintenance items and special projects. To work as a team participant or work safely alone on any building or equipment repair.


Specific Duty/Responsibility

  • Be able to weld with an arc welder or MIG welder.
  • Repair lacing on conveyor belt.
  • Repair any drive unit:

a. Replace rollers or bearings

b. Replace chain

c. Replace gear box

d. Replace sprockets and align

e. Replace side plates

f. Replace lagging material

g. Track belts

h. Align sprockets

i. Lubricate

  • Be able to sweat, thread, and install copper and black iron pipe.
  • Electrical:

a. 440 three phase troubleshooting and installation

b. same as above - 227 volts

c. same as above - 220 volts

d. same as above - 220 volts single phase

e. 110 volts control voltage

f. Read schematics and troubleshoot from them

g. Run conduit and size wire

  • Work with little or no supervision.
  • To communicate with fellow workers on a technical level.
  • To lead special projects' groups.
  • Able to operate all maintenance tools and a forklift.
  • Must remain proficient in all the maintenance areas required at our facility.


Can be called upon to work on any maintenance repair or project, or be used on any type work needed when working as a team participant.



  • Should have the full understanding and ability of Maintenance Mechanic II classification.
  • Welding and interpretation of mechanical and electrical drawings are required.
  • High school education and additional technical schooling is desired.
  • Must be able to read and write English
