Position Overview

Reporting into the Vice President, Innovation, the Director of Future, Innovation will work cross-functionally across a highly technical interdisciplinary group of forward thinking scientists, engineers, designers, sourcing professionals, outside research institutions, and startups to lead Gap Inc.'s 5-year and beyond innovation search activity.

The ideal candidate will bring a disruptive mindset around innovation, unlocking relevant technology for Gap Inc.'s portfolio of brands.

How You'll Do It:

Lead upstream innovation searches both internal and external to the apparel industry

Map technology trends and develop a pipeline of companies for partnership

Identify co-creation opportunities of interest to Gap Inc.

Collaborate with the Corporate Strategy Team to seek investment opportunities in areas aligned with Gap Inc.'s long-term strategy

Collaborate with the Senior Director of Strategy and Operations, and Advanced Polymer Science, Advanced Materials, Advanced Concept Design Teams to align on the needs of Gap Inc.'s innovation portfolio

Work collaboratively with Gap International Sourcing (GIS) to meet strategic and financial objectives

Build Gap Inc.'s reputation and visibility within the entrepreneurial ecosystem

Qualifications:

10+ years of apparel and textile technology and investment experience

5+ years of management experience

R&D experience within IT industry preferred

MBA required

Proven ability to take a hypothesis-driven approach to decision-making

Advanced financial modeling and superior analytical skills

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
