Sr. Regional Finance Director

Gannett Co., Inc., including the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, PART OF THE USA TODAY NETWORK, is seeking a Sr. Regional Finance Director.

The Sr. Regional Finance Director, based in Milwaukee, will serve as a strategic business partner to one or more units and manage Regional Finance Directors serving other units in the finance hub. The Sr. RFD provides direct support to business units that includes, but is not limited to, being the primary business partner to the site, financial planning, forecasting and analysis, capital planning, participates in month-end closing and ownership of financial statements, workflow approvals, invoicing, and front counter customer service, if applicable. The Sr. RFD fulfills group/divisional requests and is the strategic partner to the site president or GM. The Sr. RFD manages RFD’s that provide the same direct support for other units. The Sr. RFD mentors and guides RFD’s and is responsible for operational effectiveness, customer service orientation and financial results both for the hub and the business unit. The Sr. RFD will create and foster a challenging and stimulating environment that serves to retain and develop employees. Mentors hub staff at all levels.

Key Responsibilities:

Manages Regional Finance Directors responsible for serving as business partners to sites.

Serves as business partner to one or more sites. Coordinates all finance related needs of the site utilizing hub or SSC staff when appropriate. Anticipates and resolves complex issues/needs for business units.

Performs complex financial planning and analysis, including forecasting, capital planning, ad hoc P&L’s and regional publishing reporting.

Approves invoices, adjustments, journal entries, reconciliations, etc., for specific business units.

Mentors and trains hub staff.

Manages financial statements, financial policies and Sarbanes Oxley requirements.

Standardizes, streamlines and offers solutions to manual and/or inefficient processes.

Performance Measures:

Business unit satisfaction/support to executive team

Division Finance leader or group controller satisfaction

On time and accurate forecasting, month end processes and other reporting

Operational knowledge

Customer Satisfaction (including business unit executives, finance division leader, group controller)

Employee satisfaction and turnover

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Business degree (BS or MBA) with 8+ years of controller/finance director experience

Demonstrated customer service

Strong management, organizational, problem solving, risk management and conflict resolution skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with internal and external stakeholders

Strategic agility, business acumen, and ability to work with a variety of stakeholders, including high-level leaders in highly-charged situations

Experience in a consolidated financial environment

Big picture perspective and ability to manage vision but also the ability to perform more detailed assignments as needed

Travel required
