Republic Media, the #1 local news website (azcentral.com) and the state’s largest daily newspaper (The Arizona Republic) is seeking Part-Time Sports News Clerks to join our team. This position serves a crucial role in providing the very best in high school sports coverage for our readers. The Sports News Clerk oversees high school sports results, compiling scores and event results. This person will be tasked with taking and making calls to coaches and team representatives to gather results that have not been previously reported. They are also responsible for maintaining a database of contact information of coaches and athletic directors of all Arizona high schools to ensure access to relevant and impactful information. Other data entry projects will be assigned on an as-needed basis. The ideal Data Specialist is self-directed, organized and and able to multi-task on deadline. This position will work 15 hours per week, entirely in night shifts, Monday through Saturday.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/G.E.D.
  • An interest and knowledge in sports is a plus.
  • Ability to accurately take sports scores over the telephone and enter them into the computer database.
  • Must have great attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint are a must
  • Should be able to work in a fast paced, team environment and be able to meet deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
