The Naples Daily News is looking for college interns for News, Metro Desk, Computer Assisted Reporting, Photography/Videography, and Marketing/Advertising. One of the best – and craziest – news markets in Florida.
We want interns who are creative, critical thinkers, adventurous, with a sense of purpose and mission. Few news markets are as fun and diverse. One day, you are covering a Fortune 500 CEO, the next day, you’re reporting on sex trafficking. The past year interns have worked on major crime stories, a school district meltdown, even mapped how many bears have been hit by cars – yes, we have a lot of bears, along with Florida panthers and other
wildlife. That doesn’t include a local congressman popped for buying cocaine and a burglar who got stuck in a chimney (yes, chimneys also exist in Florida and the burglar needed beer money.)
Other perks: our newsroom is stocked with award-winning editors, including Pulitzer Prize winners. They are mentors, terrific coaches and believe in developing the next generation of stars in journalism. We are also located five minutes from the beach; and it never snows. You’ll leave with great clips, videos, story packages and a real newsroom experience.
Our internship pays $400 a week for 10 weeks and is not limited to the summer. A valid driver’s license and automobile is required.
