Job Title: AR Accounting Specialist

The Gannett Shared Service Center is located in Fishers, it provides all finance services for all Gannett markets.

Due to our continuing growth, we are currently seeking an AR Specialist. The AR Specialist supports business units in the area of conducting vendor maintenance, processing invoices, carrier interfaces, and other AR payment requests. Also provides payables customer service to vendors, business units, and customers.

Responsibilities include:

Billing Verification Audits:

  • Coordinating flow of data needed for balancing billing reports.
  • Reconciling billing data to production reports and other supporting documents.
  • Preparing summary reports for business units.
  • Working with business unit contacts to ensure all data is accounted for correctly.
  • Reconciling reports to billing system reports.
  • Working with business unit contacts to coordinate timely reporting of data.
  • Reporting:
  • Preparing daily post office reports on the post office web site.
  • Meet with staff to ensure continued training and development
  • React to changes in workload by adjusting staff and resources accordingly
  • Ensure that all functions are properly cross trained to cover staff absences
  • Back-up staff functions, when necessary
  • Entering and processing accounts receivable adjustments.
  • Balancing billing data between systems
  • Entering and balancing returns.
  • Perform other duties as required, including special projects.


  • High school diploma
  • Minimum of 1-2 years experience in accounts receivable or related accenting experience is required.
  • Good knowledge of accounting policies and procedures
  • Ability to recognize billing data discrepancies and reconcile differences with business site contacts
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to foster customer desire for compliance of standard policies
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Good problem solving/analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and implement accounting policies and procedures with a high degree of accuracy in a fast paced environment
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • AS/400 experience is a plus
