POSITION OVERVIEW
Galileo, an award-winning summer camp company, is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our Finance team. This newly created position will report to the Director of Finance and will have a wide range of responsibilities including traditional month and year end procedures, streamlining and scaling financial and control processes. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
• Four to six years of relevant work experience
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or other related field
• Familiarity with QuickBooks and Salesforce
• Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Strong proficiency in Excel
• Management experience preferred, though not required
• CPA license preferred, though not required

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Accounting

• Support month-end close and year-end process

• Record journal entries in compliance with accrual-based accounting

• Help maintain accounts on the general ledger, including allocating both revenue and expenses across class types and departments where necessary, and reconciling transactions

• Perform daily and month-end bookkeeper tasks on an as needed basis, including but not limited to duties in the following areas:

• Accounts payable
• Accounts receivable
• Payroll & benefits
• Credit card management
• Employee expenses
• Reconciliations
• Cash management

 

Process Improvement
• Make recommendations to improve and scale financial and control processes, especially in the following areas:
• Department and class classification of expenses
• Timely submission of expense reimbursements for business-related expenses
• Payroll and benefits

 

Financial Reporting
• Provide monthly or quarterly reports to cost center owners with their actual spend vs. budget variances
• Provide other financial planning & analysis to Director of Finance

 

Other
• Support team with audit, tax, and other third-party requests
• Prepare and file Sales and Use tax returns on an annual basis
• Prepare and file 1099 Forms on an annual basis
• Prepare ad-hoc reports and schedules

 

SCHEDULE & TIME COMMITMENT
• Galileo asks for 3 year minimum commitment
• Regular office hours, as well as weekend and evening work

General supervision provided by Carol Liao, Director of Finance
