Vice President, Finance - Rooster Teeth

Fullscreen’s Rooster Teeth Studio is a fast paced, rapidly growing team that creates award winning shows and feature length productions targeting gamers, anime fans and a wide range of others for both its own web platforms and others including YouTube, Netflix, Go90 and CrunchyRoll.  We are looking for a VP of Finance who will be a key strategic advisor and partner for the Rooster Teeth executive team. You will work closely with senior business leaders to drive key decisions across the business unit including hiring, expansion plans, budgeting and revenue planning.   You will also provide leadership for a growing finance team.  A strong candidate will have a proven track record of successful financial planning, strategic advising and a strong interest in providing a highly operational brand of finance support to help the company fulfill its objectives.

As a critical member of the Rooster Teeth and Fullscreen Finance teams, your primary responsibilities will include leading planning and analytics processes, acting as a grounded strategic partner for the executive team, managing long term financial models for key business units, developing scenarios and forecasts and supporting high-profile, high-impact growth initiatives for the company.

Reporting to the Fullscreen CFO (with a secondary reporting to the CEO and President of Rooster Teeth), you will:


  • Recruit, train, develop and grow the RT Finance and Accounting team with best-in-class talent by providing ongoing coaching, mentorship and performance feedback
  • Build and work effectively via collaborate relationships with RT business teams, the Accounting team, and the LA Based Finance and Accounting team
  • As Operations Finance, drive decision support that influences decision making based on data and analytic
  • Partner with RT Controller and FS Controller to improve close process accuracy and timeliness
  • Incorporate and utilize a strong understanding of GAAP principles in leading decision making e.g. revenue recognition, film capitalization and amortization, labor capitalization
  • Provide strategic guidance around film financing and funding options to support the production slate
  • Partner with auditors on annual audit process
  • Own the Rooster Teeth five-year planning, annual budgeting, quarterly reforecasting processes
  • Consolidate these deliverables smoothly with LA Operations Finance
  • Oversee and lead bottoms-up annual budgeting and planning process in conjunction with Rooster Teeth CEO, President and senior leadership team
  • Own capital and resource allocation
  • Improve forecast accuracy
  • Administer and review all financial plans and budgets, monitoring progress and changes to keep senior leadership team and parent company abreast of the organization's financial status
  • Set up regular reporting rhythm to the executive leadership team and key internal customers, including daily and weekly score-carding, monthly and quarterly financial reporting (three financial statements)
  • Analyze company's financial results with respect to profits, trends, costs and compliance with budgets
  • Assure accurate and timely financial projections, forecasts, and analysis of relevant financial and operational information as required for Executive Team, Fullscreen and Fullscreen Board, and other specific requests
  • Build and support detailed LOB by LOB reporting, forecasting for Rooster Teeth
  • Build and own clear and accurate cash and cashflow reporting
  • Regularly develop analyses and reports on relevant operating and financial metrics in an easy-to-understand format supporting the RT and Fullscreen Executive teams
  • Support creation of management presentation decks for Board meetings
  • Partner with HR to track and report on headcount trends plus support recruiting prioritization for key positions across multiple RT LOBs
  • Partner with engineering and data resources including Fullscreen BI resources to help optimize business performance, including identification of trends, gaps, insights and opportunity areas within the business
  • Improve and own bottoms-up revenue modeling, analytics and score-carding for each LOB
  • Conduct ongoing analyses of key business drivers, trends and performance indicators
  • Support, lead migration to and proper utilization of enterprise grade systems including ERP, forecasting and budgeting, data warehouse, BI tool
  • Act as a senior partner and advisor on financial and business intelligence matters by demonstrating outstanding financial analysis, communications, interpretation, and scenario planning skills resulting in improved business results
  • Prepare investor relations materials for parent company as needed
  • Support the Executive Team in analyzing, pursuing and funding business expansion opportunities e.g. licensing and distribution, merch and live events, international expansion
  • Analyze market and competitor trends and support various industry research initiatives


  • 10+ years progressive finance experience including at least 5 years in a leadership capacity
  • Preference for prior experience in a creative or content production organization
  • Preference for experience in an operations finance, corporate development, strategy or similar analytical role
  • Ability to operate in and lead a lean finance organization
  • Exceptional financial modeling skills
  • Strong understanding of and experience with building operations finance processes supporting multiple lines of business and customers at various levels e.g. line of business leads, Executive team, Board of Directors, parent company
  • Stellar MS Excel & PowerPoint skills
  • Experience with ERP platforms e.g. Oracle / Hyperion Essbase, NetSuite / Adaptive Planning
  • A thorough understanding of quantitative and qualitative financial analysis
  • Exceptional verbal / written communication skills
  • Ability to ask—and answer—meaningful and impactful questions
  • Ability to work independently and change directions as needed
  • Comfortable working in a supercharged environment, taking initiative and managing multiple projects at once
  • Ability to work collaboratively to drive cross-functional execution on business unit goals
  • Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills, with a formidable attention to detail
