Math Curriculm Specialist

Position Overview:
Under the supervision of the executive director of academics, the math curriculum specialist coordinates math curriculum across all schools in all subject areas to produce high academic achievement and to ensure alignment with NYS Standards and the FLACS charter, mission, and goals. The math curriculum specialist works closely with school leaders, teachers and Network staff.

Key Responsibilities:
Has a deep knowledge of mathematics content areas, instruction, and NYS standards.
Creates, revises, and evaluates network policy documents related to math curriculum in collaboration with the executive director of academics.
With school and network leaders, creates and/or updates math curriculum maps and pacing materials for network and school based curricula.
Evaluates school and network curricula to ensure alignment with the FLACS charter and NYS standards and works with school leaders to identify and build on strengths and address weaknesses.
Monitors the rigor of the curriculum and assessment in all schools to ensure all students are prepared for college and/or career success.
Ensures schools’ fidelity to the curriculum and equity across related materials.
With ENL teachers/coordinators, creates, revises, and evaluates materials and approaches used to support the ENL instruction in alignment with the standards.
Categorizes and evaluates assessments to ensure alignment to the NYS standards and FLACS curricula.
Collaborates with various stakeholders, such as other curriculum specialists, the director of professional development, the executive director of academics, and school based staff on projects.
Collaborate with the chief financial officer in developing budgets for curriculum initiatives and the director of development in developing proposals.
Serve as a full-time and engaged member of staff, supporting Network operations and assessment administration as needed, and working with other staff members to ensure fulfillment of the FLACS mission.

Master’s degree in education
5+ years of successful classroom teacher experience required
Experience working with Math in Focus strongly preferred
NYS teaching certification in a relevant area.
Clearance for fingerprint and criminal background check.
