FiveStars seeks a Director of Brand Marketing, who is passionate about small businesses and driven to build national consumer brands from the ground up. The Head of Brand Marketing will be responsible for defining and growing the FiveStars brand across consumer, business, and talent audiences and achieving ambitious goals for brand impressions, traffic, recall, and engagement. This position’s work will be a critical force multiplier for FiveStars business results and amplify the work almost every function in the company.


  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders, product marketing, and design to define the FiveStars brand strategy, story, and positioning
  • Set aggressive targets for brand and PR measurement and build tools and processes to track and report on results
  • Partner with growth marketing, product marketing, content and creative services teams to develop, launch, and measure integrated brand-building campaigns across paid, owned, and earned channels that move the needle on brand reach, recall, and engagement
  • Own the FiveStars brand identity, voice, and positioning across the entire consumer and merchant lifecycle and ensure that our entire customer experience reinforces our brand
  • Manage and evaluate our PR agency and maximize impact from national and tech press
  • Evangelize the importance of brand and brand strategy across company


  • BA/BS degree with strong academic background or equivalent experience
  • 6-12 years of experience with track record of growing scope and influence
  • 4+ years experience in a brand strategy and execution role (CPG with P&L experience a plus and startup/tech experience a plus)
  • Excellent customer empathy and highly effective storyteller in writing and in presentations
  • Strong problem solving and strategic thinking skills
  • Creative and scrappy with experience driving buzz and results using both large and small budgets
  • Experience and aptitude for measurement of brand impact a huge plus
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • Team player and effective cross-functional leader
