SBA Loan Officer

The SBA Loan Officer is responsible for developing, soliciting, promoting the SBA Lending Line of Business and service delivery system that will be responsive to individual market needs while delivering consistent performance across assigned Regional foot print. The lender will use a consultative approach with bankers and customers to deliver customer- driven and high quality credit solutions to our target markets. Partners with non-SBA Bankers to build customer relationships and assists with SBA leads generated from traditional channel.
Interviews SBA loan applicants at the request of the branches and analyzes financial statements and related data and performs cash flow analysis to determine credit worthiness of specific loan request and SBA eligibility.
Complete loan applications, gather financial information, and work with customers throughout the application and closing process. Close loans and disburse funds.
Assist in the credit analysis and underwriting process.
Interface with other managers, bank staff, Commercial and Business Bankers to provide the teamwork and knowledge needed to develop and maintain awareness of the SBA (7a) Line of Business.
Direct calling on third party groups (CDCs, and other government agencies) throughout assigned geographic markets in a direct effort to develop credit enhanced loan leads.
Once loan process is completed, work with appropriate Relationship Manager to seamlessly hand off the customer relationship for ongoing management of the relationship.
Establish strong referral network and relationships with commercial real estate brokers, loan brokers CPAs, accountants, lawyers etc: to solicit new SBA loan leads.
Bachelor degree with a minimum of 4 years experience in the Financial industry to include 2 years experience with SBA lending.
High School or GED equivalent with a minimum of 8 years experience in the Financial industry to include 2 years experience with SBA lending.
Thorough knowledge of SBA guidelines and processes.
Experience in SBA financial programs created to address the various needs of small businesses. (7(a) Loan Program)
Strong knowledge of SBA SOPs, program eligibility, credit criteria and loan structure requirements.
Proven sales/outside calling skills and previous experience on a base pay plan.
Should demonstrate the ability to understand credit risk and be able to properly evaluate and disclose risk in a relationship.
Must have proven track record of performance and demonstrated ability to achieve sales goals.
Ability to indirectly influence managers and colleagues contributing to common SBA goal.
Excellent interpersonal and verbal, written and presentation communication skills.
Ability to work in a centralized environment and develop partnerships across business lines.
Ability to constructively manage and handle conflict.
