Principal Data Architect

FINRA’s Data Platform team is looking for a passionate and innovative technologist with strong strategic and critical thinking skills to lead our Data Platform team. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong balance of technical and business skills and will own responsibility for defining strategies and guiding implementation for the FINRA Data Platform.

The FINRA Data Platform is responsible for the collection, management and dissemination of data at FINRA. It’s an enterprise capability that services multiple business lines across the entire organization. The platform collects and processes billions of records (over 300 billion) each day in support of FINRA’s regulatory mission to protect investor and promote market integrity.

So…do you have experience with commercial software, startups, large-scale program execution, and AWS cloud?   • Work with engineering teams to design and deliver first class data solutions using existing and emerging technologies
  • Promote awareness and build expertise in current and emerging data technologies, architecture and patterns
  • Help lead design and architecture discussions
  • Collaborate with engineering teams on key technology choices and implementation
  • Stay on top of relevant technology trends, experiment, and support engineering team innovation


Qualifications
  • Proven track record guiding platform architecture and technology best practices in areas such as:
    • Big Data Processing (Spark, Hadoop, etc)
    • Data Management
    • Big Data Storage (S3, HDFS, etc)
    • Data Integration
    • Performance Optimization and Scaling
  • Strong communication skills to be able to communicate effectively with engineering teams, senior management, and partners
  • Demonstrated experience gaining trust and confidence at all levels of the organization
  • Strong interpersonal skills including mentoring, coaching, and collaboration
  • Strong understanding of development processes and agile methodologies


Desired Experience
  • AWS cloud
  • 10+ years of experience in Data Architecture
  • 4+ years of experience in Big Data Architecture
  • 3+ years of experience on AWS
  • BS in computer science, or other related discipline

FINRA’s Code of Conduct imposes restrictions on employees’ investments and requires financial disclosures that are uniquely related to our role as a securities regulator. FINRA employees are required to disclose to FINRA all brokerage accounts that they maintain, and those in which they control trading or have a financial interest (including any trust account of which they are a trustee or beneficiary and all accounts of a spouse, domestic partner or minor child who lives with the employee) and to authorize their broker-dealers to provide FINRA with duplicate statements for all of those accounts.
