Travel Manager

Position Summary

The Travel Manager will report to the Director of Sourcing & Procurement and interface with individuals at all levels of the organization, as well as with suppliers.  The person must be customer service oriented and will be leading the implementation of a travel program.  Must be proficient with sourcing, negotiating, reviewing, administrating contracts and will continue to improve sourcing processes across the company. 

Responsibilities

  • Manage contracts and maintain vendor relationships as related to administration, negotiation and operational issues in hotels, meetings, events, ground and other travel areas
  • Challenge spend behaviour for measurable improvements in specific metrics, goals and objectives
  • Develop, execute and educate employees on travel and entertainment policies and best practices
  • Execute RFPs and manage multiple competitive bid processes, including travel management software
  • Maintain travel booking tool, review exception reports and drive compliance
  • Will also be responsible for travel reporting, airline negotiations and creating a SMMP

 

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required
  • Bachelors’ Degree preferred
  • 5-7 years’ experience in a sourcing, negotiating or procurement role
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Concur, American Express Global Business Travel, and Direct Travel
  • Critical thinking, attention to detail and multi-tasking skills required
  • Able to adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands and work with frequent change, delays or unexpected events
  • Ability to travel up to 20% as needed
  • Strong organization skills and ability to define process workflows in collaboration with other teams
