Mission Statement:

The mission of the FBI is to protect the American People and uphold the Constitution of the United States.

Major Duties:

  • Serves as a senior specialist and/or project manager as required. Provides advice and guidance to the FBI's management regarding all technical issues which pertain the planning, designing, developing, procuring, operating and maintaining of the FBI's IT systems.
  • Provide expertise necessary to solve complex problems that hinder the development of operation of the FBI's IT system. Conduct research to obtain knowledge regarding state-of-the-art IT equipment and operating procedures.
  • Provide technical advice to executive level managers based on a developed expertise in the field of IT. Play a key role in formulating policies and developing strategies for IT systems throughout the FBI.
  • Analyze and determine the impact of automation efforts on current policies and operational practice to determine applicability and sufficiency under existing and evolving long-range automation strategy of the FBI.

GS-14: Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level.

Specialized Experience is:

  • The incumbent serves as a Supervisory IT Specialist and directs and organizes IT Specialist engaged in technical work/projects providing a variety of IT services.
  • The supervisor is responsible for the development and performance of action plans related to the design, development and management of systems, software, network and procedures supporting the Division's requirements.
  • The supervisor directs the development of overall plans, criteria, as well as systems specifications, coordinates efforts in accomplishing the work.
  • Provides technical advice to IT specialist, other technical specialist, and managers based on a developed expertise in the field of IT.
  • Develop close contact and working relationship with personnel in various functional activities throughout the FBI to effectively carry out and coordinate project activities.

  • The FBI is in the Executive Branch of the federal government. It is one of the components of the Department of Justice (DOJ). The FBI is the principle investigative arm of the DOJ. All FBI positions are in the excepted service.

  • Percent of time worked in the particular position (cannot conflict with main duties)
  • The month/year work began
  • Frequency worked (i.e., daily, monthly, etc.)
