Relocation expenses may be borne by the FBI. An Employee who receives either a cost or a no-cost transfer must wait at least 12 months before becoming eligible for another cost or no-cost transfer. The 12-month waiting period begins the day an employee reports for duty at the new location. This date must be recorded in HR Source by the employee's administrative unit. Employees may begin applying for promotions after nine months, but cannot actually depart their current positions until their 12-month anniversary dates are reached.

Key Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain a Top-Secret-SCI clearance.
  • Must be a current permanent FBI employee in the 0132 series or be a current permanent FBI employee who formerly held a position in the 0132 series.

Some travel may be required.

Intelligence Analysts are under a mobility service agreement indicating that they are willing to relocate to any location based on the needs of the FBI.

Selectee(s) will be required to complete a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, prior to entering on duty and annually thereafter.

Required Leadership Training: All new FBI Supervisors are required to attend and complete the Leadership Development Program's Leading People course before the expiration of their probationary period. This five-day instructor-led classroom course, located at FBI Academy, will teach FBI core competencies and will prepare first-time supervisors for the leadership challenges specific to their roles. Upon selection, first-time supervisors will be automatically enrolled in the course. Additional information regarding this training will be provided at the time of selection by a Leadership Development Program representative.

Core Trainings

All Supervisory Intelligence Analysts (SIAs) must attend and successfully complete the following training within one year of being in the SIA position:

  • Intermediate Analytical Tradecraft (IAT) Not required, but highly recommended
  • Managing Intelligence Personnel and Programs (MIPP) Not required, by highly recommended
  • Managing Intelligence Tradecraft (MIT)
  • Leadership Development Training (LDP)
  • Supervisory Management Resource Training (VA)

Major Duties

Major duties include:

  • Supervises analytic personnel
  • Conveys intelligence information (both orally and in writing) e.g. to high-level briefings to FBI officials and members of the Intelligence law enforcement communities.
  • Assigns, reviews, and evaluates work and performance of subordinates.
  • Attends and provides high level briefings to high level FBI officials and of intelligence and law enforcement communities.
  • Provides guidance and direction in resolving personnel and project issues and problems encountered.
  • Exhibits the knowledge of managerial policies and as required, makes recommendations and takes appropriate actions concerning employees' development, promotions, performance appraisals, awards, and disciplinary actions.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Qualifications

Employees must possess specialized experience at the GS 13 or GS 14 grade level as described below:

One (1) year of specialized experience as a GS 13 IA

OR

One (1) year of specialized experience as a non-supervisory GS 14 IA.

Specialized Experience is:

  • Conducted analysis in critical area of the intelligence field (i.e. counterterrorism, counterintelligence, cyber, criminal matters, weapons of mass destruction, etc.)
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Planned and directed large-scale intelligence analysis studies and projects.
  • Communicated with external and internal components in all levels of management and members of the intelligence and/or law enforcement communities.
  • Led an intelligence effort, program or group.
  • Knowledge of U. S. Intelligence Community member agencies
  • Knowledge of U. S. Intelligence Community collection management processes and dynamics is preferred but not required

Completing the Pre-Application Questionnaire

The Pre-application Questionnaire section requires you to answer questions regarding your suitability for a position at the FBI. Complete all the questions and review the additional Terms and Agreements. If you accept the Terms and Agreements, select the "I agree to these terms" checkbox. If you have failed, the application will be "Unaccepted" and will no longer be considered. Completing an Application

In the Education and Work Experience sections, a list of content sections with associated skills and qualifications will display. Please rate yourself for the skills that display on the page. If you do not possess the skill, let the rating blank. Add additional skills and qualifications to the application by clicking the + button under the section. Then click the magnifying glass to search for the item. Use the search functions to filter the list. Click on the Content Item ID and fill out the other details on the page. Click the Add button. Ensure that it displays on the Education and Work Experience page before moving on to the next application page.

In each content section, there is an Item Definition and Rating Definition. Select the Item Definition to know what that particular item means. Select the Rating Definition to know how to assess your proficiency for that particular item.

Step 3—Review and Submit Your Application

Use the Previous and Next links to toggle between application pages. Click the Save as Draft button to save your changes and complete the application later.

Complete ALL sections of the application and then click the Submit button. The system will display a message stating whether you have passed or failed eligibility after your application is submitted. All submitted applications will appear under the My Applications section under My Career Tools for your review. Use the Display application from drop down to view historical applications.

Step 4—Submit Required Documents

To attach documents to your application (i.e. DD-214, Transcripts, Writing Samples, Degree Equivalency), please navigate to the Cover Letters and Attachments section under My Career Tools. Click the + button under the section, select the type and enter a purpose. Click the Add Attachment link to browse and upload the document. The accepted document types are .docx, xlsx, .pdf. Then click the Save & Return button.

These documents will be applied to all of your applications. Please use this section to delete the document or edit the document details as well.
