Human Resources Assistant

Reston, VA

The HR Assistant is an integral part of the Human Resources team, working closely with the HR Coordinators and taking ownership of administrative duties. This role requires confidence, excellent communication skills, team working skills and interpersonal skills. The HR Assistant is also expected to have strong organizational skills and outstanding work ethic, striving to lead by example at all times. They will be required to work in a busy and dynamic environment, and build rapport with everyone at FDM. This position will create a strong foundation for a successful career in Human Resources.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Facilitate administration and support during all stages of the employee lifecycle
• Take part in presenting at FDM assessment days and conduct inductions for new employees

• Processing all on-boarding paperwork for new employees
• Creating and organizing employment files and taking ownership of the file system (removing terminations, tracking I-9 expiration dates, etc.)
• Maintaining employee personal information in our HRIS system and personnel files
• Assisting employees with benefits enrollment
• Liaising with all departments to ensure regular and effective communication is taking place
• Organizing and tracking relocation procedures
• Completing employment verification forms and letters upon request
• Listening, supporting and advising employees in a professional manner
• Maintaining employee confidence and protecting operations by keeping human resource information confidential
• Ensuring HR is seen as a supportive department that goes above and beyond to support both the employees and the company itself

Essential Criteria:
• Bachelor’s degree in HR or equivalent HR experience
• Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills
• Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
• Good team-working skills and ability to self-motivate
• Ability to prioritize, work well under pressure and multitask effectively
• Enthusiastic attitude and positive work ethic
• Methodical, analytical and process driven mentality
• Professional presentation of one’s self at all times
• Dedicated to a progressive career in HR
• Fluent in Microsoft Office Suite
• Cultural knowledge and interest in promoting diversity in the workplace

Desirable Criteria:
• 1-2 years of HR experience
• Knowledge of HRIS systems
• Experience with coaching and mentoring
• Additional languages
