We are looking for an experienced User Experience Research Manager that can build and manage high-performing teams across multiple locations. You will oversee a team of world-class researchers that deliver insights for our emerging wearable technology products.What makes a good candidate? Someone who has a breadth and depth of research skills - who understands the balance and trade-offs between scrappy and rigor, and ultimately how research translates into design and product recommendations and decisions. The role requires you to be an expert researcher with a proven track record of doing qualitative and quantitative research that impacts a complex and diverse product. It's not enough to answer interesting questions about user behavior; our team focuses on impact.To be successful in this role, you must become a trusted, strategic partner with cross-functional team members in product management, design, data science, engineering and marketing. You will be responsible for articulating the vision for the team to leadership and be a strong advocate for the role of research in product development. In addition, building strong relationships with research teams across Facebook will be critical to ensuring a cohesive and cross-functional vision for Research at Facebook.

  • Advocate passionately for people while developing a wearable product line focused on communications and health
  • Serve as a thought partner and effective collaborator with executive and cross-functional leadership teams
  • Guide research to deliver insights throughout the life-cycle of wearable products to inform both strategic and tactical product and design decisions
  • Attract and retain high quality talent, managing the career development of individuals and overall health of the team
  • Ensure teams are focused on the highest impact work, balancing prioritization of short term needs as well as looking ahead to the next big challenge
  • Manage a distributed team in multiple locations effectively, some travel will be required
  • Master in Human Computer Interaction
  • 8+ years of professional research experience working across the full product lifecycle
  • 2+ years of research team management experience
  • Track record of delivering both quantitative and qualitative research that defines product strategy and influences roadmaps
  • Experience shipping consumer and/or enterprise software products informed by research insights
  • Experience managing prioritizing in-house research efforts and understanding when and how to leverage third party vendors
  • PhD in Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Cognitive Psychology, Neuropsychology, Human Factors, Cultural Anthropology, or a related field
  • Experience shipping hardware consumer devices, including wearable technologies or input devices
